Me! I like other peoples kids but won't be having any of my own. Just like doing my own thing really.

And me! :D (am a fab auntie though )
Sometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!

  • Hey all - how's things right now? Everything seems to be getting a bit funny as Xmas gets closer, isn't it? People seem to be either all philosophical or just mental at this time of year.

One of the things I was criticised for was actually admitting that I can't stand kids. Some people don't believe it because I'm a woman and everybody knows that we have no other ambition in life as women but to have kids  Are there any other women at all on the planet who feel anything like this? Amazing the amount of people who said to me, "But don't you want to get married?" like not wanting kids means that I should never marry!

My best mate from Uni has 3 kids and I've given up going to see her. Every time I go down there (she's about 100 miles away) we can barely have a conversation together.

"My cousin has been told she has a brain tumour"
    ".............eh..........oh yeah..............nice"
"Shame, she's got 2 little boys......"
"Oh that's nice..............come here (to one of her kids)"
"She might have little as 3 months to live........"
    ".......oh.........ok................sorry, who's that..........."
"My cousin, she's got a tumour............."
".............put that cup down (to one of her kids)................so she's got wee baby boys now..............nice"
    "No, she's seriously ill........."
"Why didn't you say? Do you want the wii on (to one of her kids)?"

Frustrating to say the least. Not the kids fault admittedly, but I can see that we're more distant than ever because our lives are just going in two totally different directions. Her's is all about family and kids and mine, well, isn't LOL:o

Is it just some sort of subliminal jealously that I have that other people have reached some sort of relationship nirvana with doting husbands, babies, complete package et al, or is it really possible for some women to just really dislike kids? Apparently not according to 99%of my office.

Of course, I'm right though :p

Sorry, that's just a random thing I had to get off my chest!

Nothing wrong with not liking kids, I'm not a great lover of them myself and I'm a mother  I've gotta say I do love DD with all my heart and also my niece/nephew but I'm just not a kiddy person.

I can't believe people think you're wrong though. It's your life to do as you choose. I wouldn't let narrow minded people get to you.

How did that happen then :p:D?

Loads of pregnant people at work and, try as I may (I haven't actually :p), I really can't get as enthusiastic about it as they can. It's also a bad time of year for people bringing their kids into the office
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
  • Exactly.... you think you get funny comments for not liking kids, try not liking them but being a mother.

That probably makes me sound like I don't like DD... I do! It's different when they're your own. And to be honest at 16 I hadn't even thought about if I wanted children or not. It happened, I dealt with it ;)
I sometime wonder how people without children get up of a morning and get through life but that doesn't mean I don't understand people not wanting them.

LOL!!! That's how I look at people with kids - funny old world! ;)

I think sometimes people act like I'm some sort of looney just because I don't want kids and can be open about that. I think society so gears us up as women towards having kids that some people really can't cope with hearing the words, "I don't like kids" coming out of a woman's mouth. I'd be as well saying I was an alien!

Well done on raising from 16. At 16 I still thought I was going to be a pop star :o

Even wierder I think the same about people with young children. I look at them and wonder how the heck they do it. It's as though I don't remember DD being that small, but I do and I actually enjoyed it but for some reason the thought of doing it all again horrifies me. I feel like I wouldn't cope.

I was 17 by the time I had DD - not much difference i know lol But it's odd, it's like it was meant to be. I can't explain it- i'm confusing myself here :rotfl:

  • Just wanted to say hi :hello:

Couldn't post earlier... as I wasn't single, but I am now.. apparently without one decent reason

    Silly men.

Anywho, seeing as half my debt is probably contained in my closet (or more...) I figured I would make myself at home ;)

Am also a fan of chocolate (gone through half a block of old gold this morning), alcohol (won't specify), diets (on Heidi Klum's trainers body plan... although it doesnt include chocolate or alcohol.. so i'm improvising a little :D ) , houses (when I get one) , cats (my darling soxy)

    Am I in? :rotfl:

Ha...you're not kiddin!! The words needle and haystack spring to mind!

I do believe there's good men out there, I've just not found one yet. And so far all the ones I met that I've thought were good have always proved not to be so good after all

I'm still enjoying perving at the moment so I'm not too bothered if they're decent or not.
