So are you an expat then? My friend is flying out to Mt Isa in QLD on the 30th dec to start a career as a mining engineer,
I love the central coast, it's a shame I wasn't paid enough to go exploring down there properly. Newcastle is a nice city as long as long as you stick to certain parts. The size of a glory hole in an open pit should not be greater than the cross-section of the haul trucks that dump into it. No, Aussie through and through... (by way of the U.K. over the past 200 years... hmmm).
The central coast is beautiful, my mum has a place down by the water so I'm going to crash there for a year to finish off my current degree. Agree about newcastle... some of it is nice, but it can be a little hit and miss.
If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I get a little curious about people that go work out in the mines.. it really does seem to become a lifestyle.LBM - June 2014 DFD Goal: June 2016 (28th Bday!)

What degree are you doing? At Sydney uni is it?
I'm 23, I'm studying mining engineering in the UK but got a chance to take a year out and work in the Aussie mining industry. I got into it because I'm a natural engineer, I like blowing things up and the money is really good

Actually studying at Monash, which is in Melbourne, but by correspondence. Doing Business at the moment, and I'm trying to get myself into Sydney Uni to do Law afterwards

Beautiful part of the world... but very expensive. Where abouts were you working?
I'm just back from Sydney  <=my sunburnt face when I came back!
I was staying in Menai in Sutherlandshire (South Sydney)Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
Just caught up on the last few pages and you guys have really set the world to rights.
Loving the categorised goal-setting, Lula!
I have been [STRIKE]shamed[/STRIKE] inspired by you all into a little goddessing; colouring your hair red with a white furry assistant is not to be recommended. :rotfl: Afterwards we did some clicker training with prawns which Noah knew very well were defrosting on the worktop, hence all the shouting during the goddessing. He is just about getting the hang of touching his nose to the clicker to get the reward.

Hi Miss Lauren and welcome! :j Sounds like you fit in very well indeed!
This week is proving soooo expensive and I don't get paid til Friday and for the first time in ages am in my overdraft. I know that doesn't sound bad but considering what I have left after my bills etc it is really bad.
Have been out plotting with a friend for a massive holiday later in the year. I don't think I can quite confess on here yet as would involve a fair amount of spends but also being healthy for the next 10 months
I have so much I want to do next year that I don't know if I can manage it all! It is like I want to be a different person..... one with an amazing flat with lovely furniture who is super-organised godess type with no unfinished projects and proper hobbies that she does regularly and who also goes on fabulously amazing holidays......I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction
