Shop asking for return of mis-priced goods

...I'd do the same as rockporkchop says and ignore their letter and phone call...
I'd be more inclined to write a response to them rather than ignore. If you do ignore the letter, they'll only keep on ringing your wife about it.
Write to them and send it recorded delivery stating that you will not be returning it and state why, as advised above. That way, if they do charge your debit card the extra without your approval it'll help your case with your bank in getting the money back as you have clearly stated to the shop that your contract on purchase was agreed and finalised at £315 not £875.No trees were killed to send this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. - Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson)0 -
Oh how lovely. I think I am going to direct my DH to this thread tonight.
I keep having to re-read the "need it by close of the weekend" comment!
I would just think of it as a nice £560 bonus for your loyal custom.0 -

And this must be the £315 one

The ticket price was the 'invitation to do business price' - this was accepted by yourself and the store when you paid and the transaction was completed. There is nothing more to it. They can't suddenly decide afterward that was mispriced.
Imagine buying a car, then the next week the car dealership phoned to tell you they wanted an extra 50% of the cost. Well, you'd never accept that, would you?
Tough luck. The store cannot do business like this. There is no error on your part - you paid the advertised price and they accepted it. It is the complete failing of the store and you should not be made to feel bad about it.
I don't think i'd want to shop in there again though...0 -

The letter contained the e-mail address of the store owner (also the sender of the letter).
I have drafted a suitable response and sent it in the last few moments, advising why we shall not be returning the item and that if their records had been checked they may have noted we had spent considerable amounts of money with them in the last year and that they should have tailored their tone accordingly.
The end of. We've found a new retailer of the same products nearby too.0 -
I would write to them, and tell them that the item was a gift, and as you can't ask for the gift back, then you are unable to return it.
I would then point out that as the mistake was realised after the transaction was complete, there is no legal obligation to return the item.
I would then go on to say that had the letter that they wrote to you been polite and appologetic, and had the charm not been gifted to someone, you would have been happy to return the item given you are a frequent customer of theirs, but as neither are the case, you cannot return the item.
EDIT - just noticed you already replied to them! well doneShould've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
