second_chance wrote:thankyou daddyto3 i appreciate your honesty and had i posted just months ago i would have seriously reconsidered my head is spinning with all this worry but i have got to change and if it takes a mortgage to make me do this then it will be worth it-i would rather struggle with a mortgage than be crying to sleep because i cant pay my huge dorothy perkins bill (what a waste all that debt with nothing to show at least now i will have bricks and mortar) or is that a cop out??????? moving date now seems to have moved again to the end of june so thats another pay day
This is the bit that bothers me really. the debts in your sig, quite frankly are not that bad. You could have them paid off by the end of the year. Its the 40k that you have added onto the new mortgage that frightens me.
If you stayed where you are, and paid off the 40k in the usual way, you wouldnt have to pay them over such a long term.
Personally, I think you are likely to be crippled in the new house, and one of you is going to have to take on a second job probably for a rather long time. Is the new house really worth this sort of struggle?
If I were offering you advice, I would back out, stay put, go full throttle at paying off as much as you can now, and for a couple of years, while your overheads are cheaper, and break the back of this 40k. Houseprices are falling in many places around the country, so you may well find you get a similar house, cheaper in a few years time. Even if the purchase price isnt cheaper, you may be offered better products as you will have a higher equity in your current home as you will have paid it off for another couple of years.
I think it makes very good financial sense not to move, stay put, cut your losses of legal fees. You can sell the searches onto other potential buyers, make some money back there.
But thats a decision I dont think you are likely to make. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
i know you are right lynz but at this late stage i really really cant back out we are all go changed nurseries etc although that is no excuse i know-im kind of hoping that someone within the chain drops out so that it hasnt been my descision to make once the debts listed are paid i will have a £177,000 morgage to battle with obviously inc the original £40,000 i added in the first place-i am willing to do whatever it takes to be able to move to this house and pay even small extra amounts to bring it down-im resigned to the fact that i will have to put new addition on hold-i know your probably fed up with me as im not taking the sensible option but please dont abandon me!!!!! i have nearly finished my complete soa for new house and once posted could you please give it the once over and see what can be changed??????????

Sending you a hug. No one is going to abandon you, dont worry.
On one hand you hope someone will drop out of the chain, so you can get out of it. Why rely on strangers to hopefully do something you want, when you can do it yourself. However, you say that "i am willing to do whatever it takes to move" its not the moving thats going to bew the problem I dont think, I suspect that its the living day to day once you are there. Of course we will look over your other SOA.
The other thing to note is that for most of us, selling what we own, cutting right back, living hand to mouth, is only a temporary thing. For you guys if you move it might be more like 25 years. And thats with no extra additions.
I hope your new SOA proves me wrong to be honest with you
Sending more hugs xxx:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

I personally can't imagine doing the cutting-back, going without, sacrificing etc etc..... for longer than i have to,, which is about a year I hope.
But for me i couldn't comprehend the next 25 years....
You say you really hope someone else backs out, so you don't have to go through with it, so you must be having seconds thoughts?
I would do the decent thing and get out now! You really are going to be struggling love, until you are 53. Not only you, but your husband and little girl too. No holidays, no outings, lack of new clothes, trips out etc.......
Sending you loads of hugs, as i know you are in turmoil.
