yeah I think that's kind of what I have in mind. Would be best of both worlds wouldn't it?
I have lots of sorting to do today wrt money. Looked at account and it didn't look fantastic. Just need to check all is ok, I think we may have spent more than we should have on food.
That's my afternoon sorted then :rolleyes:2010 Cost of Living Challenge - £901/£5300 * Grocery challenge - £117.91/£120 *Total Debt- [STRIKE]£6388.74[/STRIKE] £5995.66 :eek:Debt Free Reward Pot £11 * Overdraft vs 100 days £363.76/£800 *Feb NSD's 8/120 -
Hi all,
got some fab 5p bargains at the supermarket last night, hardly ever get them that good so I got lots!! Veg for last nights stir fry, peppers, fresh herbs I've frozen and potatoes. Unfortunately hubby picked up some sweets for halloween trick or treaters and didn't pay attention to the 3 for 3 quid so we ended up paying lots more. I'm going to try and take them back tomorrow though - no harm in trying. Grr to non observant dh's though and grr to me not noticing till I got home.
Anyway. Had a nice 5p soup this lunchtime
While having it I had a first try of the virgin free bingo and won a couple of pounds, enough to cash out, so I have another £5 to go against the overdraft :T. Although I have temporarily borrowed that money to get some Xmas presents for the kids. I got them in argos tonight (so no NSD) and managed to get the free £5 voucher against something else. Once I get my tax credits in next Fri, which had £50 allocated for Xmas, I'll pay it off the o/d. Just seemed a good idea to do it now and get the voucher than wait. Glad to have got the first bits anyway.
hopefully redeemed my first bingoport voucher too. Won't count it till it's been processed though. Have played plenty of bingo though.
erm, sure I was supposed to say something else, but can't remember now!! Oh yeah another PC survey so another 4 pounds there

Good afternoon everyone

Had a good day at work this morning. Managed to get some money back from Asda from our mistake with the halloween sweets. :j £3 was def better than £6.50!! I also sent off for the lego sets that had been advertised in the Mirror so hopefully will get them for Xmas for the kids.
I remember now what I had meant to say last night. Should be getting back just over £150 from british gas, have decided to put half to the overdraft and half to an extra family treat for Xmas (hoping to get some wii stuff).
Not much else to report. Looking forward to a new month tomorrow and the challenges that go with it. I'm going to really try and get a spending diary sorted. Actually, going to try and find one out this afternoon.
Happy Halloween everyone

Good morning

Refund came through this morning so it's been transferred straight to an instant access savings account so I can arrange to pay it off the o/d. All looking ok to maybe pay off £100 soon.
Hoping I get my cheque for a mobile I sent off to be recycled so I can get a PAYG mobile in the next few days. All using quidco for maximum effect :T
Lots to do, need to write a list and get out of my ever so slightly grumpy mood. Might help if I can switch off the computer for a bit.
See you all later!2010 Cost of Living Challenge - £901/£5300 * Grocery challenge - £117.91/£120 *Total Debt- [STRIKE]£6388.74[/STRIKE] £5995.66 :eek:Debt Free Reward Pot £11 * Overdraft vs 100 days £363.76/£800 *Feb NSD's 8/120 -
Just did a PAD to the CC1. The minimum payment comes out as a DD but I'm wanting to keep it at £30 each month so I paid the extra today. I'll take into account the min pmt and interest once the statement comes out on the 17th, but the PAD I did brings the total down to £998.83. Finally in 3 figs!!
Trying to work out how to have a supermarket free month next month. I absolutely hate the supermarkets in the run up to Xmas and each year I say I'll not go the next year. This year I'll try my best to stay well away. Need to plan well to make extra when I cook and freeze it and also to do a big online shop at the beginning of Dec maybe? I work near a small greengrocers so can pick up fruit and veg and where I work sells bread and milk, plus there's a small Sainsburys there too which should be doable and not too busy. We'll see how it goes.
Mobile cheque came today too so can get ordering my new payg phone. Will do it tomorrow possibly. Also off out later to see a free film, that is if I can get the tickets printed. I really need to either get a new printer or some new cartridges. I bet a new printer would be cheaper!!

Hi Homegrown,
Loving the diary and going to subscribe, i think your doing a fab job, keep it up and keep us updated.0 -
Thanks Mieme

Didn't manage to get the printer working so we couldn't go to our free film. If I hadn't had to wait in for a plasterer I'd have tried to get to the library and print from there. Oh well. These technology failings are really annoying me though. Our tft computer monitor lasted about 2 and a half years and I'd love to get another but I hate having to pay lots only for it to last 3 years or so. Printers are the same, I seem to have gone through so many of them. I used to get a printer that had cheap cartridges but they always broke before I'd even used all the ink, so then I bought a cheap one and had to replace cartridges at quite a big expense. It plays up constantly too so don't want to pay out another lot on ink to continueto be annoyed with it. Tbh I just hate the waste of it all. I think from now on I'll try and print from the library. I hardly ever print anyway so I'm sure it will be just as cheap.
Had a NSD today, first of the month :T Need to sort a shopping list for tomorrow now, or maybe just watch Flash Forward?2010 Cost of Living Challenge - £901/£5300 * Grocery challenge - £117.91/£120 *Total Debt- [STRIKE]£6388.74[/STRIKE] £5995.66 :eek:Debt Free Reward Pot £11 * Overdraft vs 100 days £363.76/£800 *Feb NSD's 8/120 -

hello again

Another NSD yesterday. Good to have a couple under my belt at the beginning of the month! Today could be too, but not sure yet. Might need to be just a low spend day.
Checked online banking this morning and seems that british gas have refunded me a further £48, making the total refunded about £200.
I think I'll be a busy bee today on the debt busting side. Tax credits come in tomorrow so I want to be sure of what money is still lying around so that tomorrow I'm not lost.So I'll make a little list:
1. Go through online banking and sort out everything in my head.
2. Set up a instant access saving account to take £30 a month emergency savings.
3. Wait in for my new phone to come :T. It's only basic, but I never get new phones, just hand me downs so this is fab. All cash neutral too as sold my last phone.
4. Check One Poll, and do youngpoll surveys with my son.
5. Clicks and scratchies. Try and remember free bingo time at virgin and give it a go.
6. Put pizza dough on for tea.
that'll do for now. I might try and list an ebay item or 2 if I can find my phone cable to transfer the photos.
Hope everyone has productive days!2010 Cost of Living Challenge - £901/£5300 * Grocery challenge - £117.91/£120 *Total Debt- [STRIKE]£6388.74[/STRIKE] £5995.66 :eek:Debt Free Reward Pot £11 * Overdraft vs 100 days £363.76/£800 *Feb NSD's 8/120 -

Do you have a Cartridge World or somewhere similar near you where they can refill the cartridges instead of buying new ones? It really does work out a lot cheaper. I would recommend Googling it to see if you do: refilling 4 cartridges for my printer costs about the same as it would to buy one new.
Good luck!
