  • :T:T:T just decided to go for it and try for a sole account for myself with Halifax. 10 mins later and I've got one. So all I need to do is recycle my money and another £5 a month will be mine.

If I can register dh for online banking, then maybe I can do his online tomorrow. Too much for one day ;) I hate applying for stuff. Too many declines in the past I guess! But at least now instead of having £30 a month of charges, it will work out to be £20 now. Excellent :T:T:T:beer::beer:

  • well on the bank account theme I thought I'd try to sign up for an A&L account that is giving £100 cashback. I normally stay well away from that bank as hubby banked with them years ago and he had nothing but hassle. But I thought for the £100 (and poss cashback too) it might be worth having a sole account I could use for just my stuff. Apparantly I was accepted so just need to go through all the rigmarole of changing everything over.

Mobile bill came out nearly £20 cheaper than normal due to me chasing up my free texts I hadn't been given so that's going aside to pay the o/d. Just another £12 or so and I can make the first £50 payment off it.

  • Hello HGL. Great to hear you're getting on so well and outwitting the Halifax and their scandalous new charging regime!

I was going to get one of those A&L a/cs, but though I was accepted, at the time I applied, you had to get in credit at some point in the month and I wasn't!

Now I do, having reduced my o/d, but as we have 4 a/cs with one bank, it all seems a bit daunting if anything went wrong. Potential financial meltdown!

The £100 is tempting though....on other hand, my bank is easy to deal with, they know you in the branch and it's easy to sort out any probs, there's no off shore call centre etc, and it's these things that keep me loyal.... despite the £100 incentive.

Anyway, keep doing what you're doing, can tell you're in the MSE groove.....

  • hi Snowmoredebt, thanks for popping by. I keep thinking I ought to do a car boot, but I can't quite bring myself to do one. Far too much of an early start and would have childcare issues.

MrsR, it's hard to know what to do huh? I had 2 current accoutns anyway, so transferring one of them. A&L are supposed to be rubbish, so if they are I'll leave once I get my money.

    Moneytroubles - :hello:

This morning is going well -played 10p worth of 1p bingo at Butlins bingo and won 5 pounds (argh pound sign not working). That meant I could withdraw and have 13 pounds winging it's way to my bank account. So I have my first 50 to come off the overdraft. :T

Here's hoping the rest of the day is as good :D

  • Good morning all :)

gas and electric statements came through this morning. Hopefully leaving BG soon anyway once the transfer goes through, but it said that they'll be refunding £200 that we were in credit. Not sure what to do with this money when it comes though. Pay off the debts or add to Xmas fund (which is practically non existant so far), or just treat ourselves. I need to make a decision before dh knows about it or he'll def vote for spending!!!

snowmoredebt - really glad you've had a good experience. We'll see anyway, I'm an easy going customer!!!

not sure what else I'm doing today, oh just realised yesterday was a NSD. Off to update the sig...
