Hi homegrown, good luck with the xmas job. I know its always said but try to swop some of the sweet stuff for fruity things esp while you have all those apples - my mum always used to make loads of yummy sweet stuff when we had fruit trees at home, its a while ago now but my sister, dad and I never wanted to eat as many biscuits or drink as much fizzy pop when she did. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Thanks for the comments peeps  I fear we have got ourselves into way too much of a bad habit with sweets  Need some serious habit training to go on!!
Today I was at work this morning and thought I'd be spending money as there is a charity shop there and I figured I'd keep an eye out for some Xmas presents. However I didn't see anything. I nearly picked up a bar of chocolate as I was starting to feel hungry and then remembered I'd taken some fruit and a yoghurt so put it back. Not buying it meant that I managed to make today a NSD! That's 4 already :T:T Also got given some free bread and crisps that were going out of date
Making that extra payment yesterday brought my DFD to September 2011 which I'm really pleased about. Ebay items finish tomorrow so hopefully more money for debts there too.
Going to have a pamper evening tonight and maybe do some STP or dooyoo later if I can work out what to do!2010 Cost of Living Challenge - £901/£5300 * Grocery challenge - £117.91/£120 *Total Debt- [STRIKE]£6388.74[/STRIKE] £5995.66 :eek:Debt Free Reward Pot £11 * Overdraft vs 100 days £363.76/£800 *Feb NSD's 8/120 -

Thanks for the thoughts on the Xmas job. I've been fiddling with tax credit figures and as far as I can tell I'll be worse off overall if I take another job. Would be ok if it was for longer than the xmas period, but argh. Guess I'll worry more if I get offered anything. Actually lets be realistic, if I even get an interview!! Applied for argos jobs last year and didn't hear anything so really I am not that optimistic!!
Sold my 2 ebay items and made probably about £20 or so after postage :T Will post tomorrow and see exactly what the profit was and add it to my October challenge total.
Been talking to hubby, as according to entitledto website we'd get housing benefit of almost £20 a week. It always shows we'd be entitled, but it just feels wrong to me to claim it when really we're not *that* hard up at the moment. I mean don't get me wrong the money would certainly come in handy. Hubby thinks we should claim as does his dad. Can't decide, would certainly make a dent in some debts even if we took half to pay and half to have as extra spends. Hmmm. Maybe I'll get the forms and go from there.
Not been feeling great today, feel like I'm coming down with a bit of a cold so looking forward to bed! Need to do competitions and maybe some STP and dooyoo. Did first 2 reviews yesterday :T2010 Cost of Living Challenge - £901/£5300 * Grocery challenge - £117.91/£120 *Total Debt- [STRIKE]£6388.74[/STRIKE] £5995.66 :eek:Debt Free Reward Pot £11 * Overdraft vs 100 days £363.76/£800 *Feb NSD's 8/120 -
If you are entitled to it claim it!
If it helps you get the debts cleared that bit quicker then why would you consider not doing? You can always stop claiming it at a later date if you still feel bad about it.It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

thanks scuba, I'll try and get forms tomorrow and see what they say. Can't hurt to try. Should bring my DFD down to April 2011 if I can use half of it to pay off debts. That would be good!!2010 Cost of Living Challenge - £901/£5300 * Grocery challenge - £117.91/£120 *Total Debt- [STRIKE]£6388.74[/STRIKE] £5995.66 :eek:Debt Free Reward Pot £11 * Overdraft vs 100 days £363.76/£800 *Feb NSD's 8/120

Hi, just a quick update. Been trying hard to keep up with the daily clicks and scratchies. I've not been very well lately though so hard to do much more. I did list another 2 things on ebay which are going well already.
I've contacted our mobile phone peeps to ask why it seems I'm getting charged for all my texts even though I supposedly have 50 a month free. Hmmm. Maybe I could get a refund?? Would be nice. Would have been better if I'd realised a while ago as well
Been inspired by the debt vs 100 days thread. Wonder if I coudl unoffically do something for the remaining half of that. I'll have a think and see how much I can try and pay off a debt. Won't be able to clear one but maybe aim for an amount??2010 Cost of Living Challenge - £901/£5300 * Grocery challenge - £117.91/£120 *Total Debt- [STRIKE]£6388.74[/STRIKE] £5995.66 :eek:Debt Free Reward Pot £11 * Overdraft vs 100 days £363.76/£800 *Feb NSD's 8/120 -
Hmmm, just read that things are changing wrt Halifax and overdrafts. We're constantly in our o/d (not good) and so instead of having interest of about £20-£25 a month it will go up to about £30 a month. Not loads of course, but not really giving me an incentive to clear it. I might give them a ring tomorrow and see if we can change the account to the one giving £5 a month for more than £1000 going in. Hubby gets paid just short of that and if I arrange for the child benefit to go in then that will bring us up to the magic number. That will at least bring it to £25 a month charge. Hmmm.
Although our £2k overdraft is up for renewal sometime in Novemeber anyway, they might just take it all off us and we'll be up a proverbial creek without a paddle anyway.
Argh!! Although I am going to take comfort in the fact that I am on top of what is happening and can deal with it which is a far cry from me a couple fo months ago.2010 Cost of Living Challenge - £901/£5300 * Grocery challenge - £117.91/£120 *Total Debt- [STRIKE]£6388.74[/STRIKE] £5995.66 :eek:Debt Free Reward Pot £11 * Overdraft vs 100 days £363.76/£800 *Feb NSD's 8/120 -
or maybe I should aim to be getting rid of the overdraft ASAP?? then that would save me £30 a month wouldn't it?? Hmmm. (I'm saying that a lot aren't I?) Number crunching evening tonight I think.2010 Cost of Living Challenge - £901/£5300 * Grocery challenge - £117.91/£120 *Total Debt- [STRIKE]£6388.74[/STRIKE] £5995.66 :eek:Debt Free Reward Pot £11 * Overdraft vs 100 days £363.76/£800 *Feb NSD's 8/120
