I think there were many reasons for this policy change:
    1. media coverage as stated in the last few weeks as stated
    2. people buying £80 shops for pennies
    3. fraud - photocopies of coupons
    4. people registering at websites under different names and printing/ordering the same coupons
    5. each family member individually coming to shop in Tesco's by coupons
    6. tesco staff abusing coupon spends between themselves
    7. multiple shops by the same people on the same day
    8. criminal gangs operating at Tesco's stores
    9. Manufacturer power (magazine companies, king of shaves, dishwasher tablets etc suffering big time) / legal implications as a result
    10. Tesco's not getting paid by certain manufacterers

I think all these were factors in the policy changing .... but it may only be for 4 weeks from what I have read here!

    Best to shop elsewhere!

    Vote with your money.

Shop in aldi's, Lidl, Home and Bargains etc - their prices are far cheaper than Tesco's to begin with! Morrisons also have so many offers on - you will be surprised. Buying what is actually necesary rather than luxurious spends (paid previously by coupons) will I'm sure help everybody!

What a fab post. :T I'm amazed by how many coupon-user lurkers there are who have such valuable comments to contribute but have kept quiet up until now. Please stay saaya2020, thank you and welcome.

What have Tesco done wrong? As far as I know they still accept money off coupons if they are used to buy the product they were intended for? What is unfair about that?

What is Sainsbury's doing with Coupons??? Im lost? :)

At Sainsbury's they are giving out till spit voucher for you to spend the next time you shop with them - don't expect high value though.

Why conditional spend - that is something differerent entirely - Tesco don't get any money back for these.

Correct T does not get their money back on conditional spend ie : £5 off spend over £50. In order words why let the consumers shop at say "Morrison" for £45 worth of groceries when we can take their customers. And yes, Tesco are the most expensive supermarket. So even if you paid £45 worth of goods you don't actually save much.

I think as well as voting with our feet from T's stores, those of us who also buy our fuel there should also fill up elsewhere, I filled up in Morrisons today - at least I can get points on my Morrisons miles card and get the occasional £5 back:D

If you have Asda credit card & pay petrol at their Kiosk you get immediate 1p back for every litre. If you use Asda credit card & spend in their shop you get points & end of the year they send you the vouchers to spend b4 xmas.

    This is my opinion :-

Only go to Morrison for BOGOF other than that don't bother.

Only go to Home Bargains for toileteries/medicine/some selected junk food/etc - way much cheaper than any supermarket and yes I am comparing like for like items. eg: Baxter soup is 59p a can & at tesco they are selling at 88p minimum a can.

If you can, go to Asda and shop instead, they very seldom have BOGOF but their price per item are way much cheaper than sainsbury & morrison & tesco.

Today I was too lazy to go to Asda, so I went to Morrison & I spend apprxo. £14 ( that's usually my 2 months shopping cost @ T) in 1 day.

some cheap stuff from morrison today:

    carrots/ baby potatoes/onions/big oranges (4/5) in a pack & iceberg lettuce all @ 30p.

Oreo cookies 2 for £1 and using the 2 coupons that was given to me by you  I only paid 30p a pack.

Walk next door to farmfood got my self 2 loaf of best of both for £1.50. Whereby morrison is selling about £1.24 each.

Now I have to go back to my old habit, check whats on offer online as well as in the store, list it & go get it. Aldi & Lidl are too far for me to travel not worth the petrol. As for netto, if you sign up their newsletter, they send you weekly email & from there you can decide to go or not to go.

Hope this help you to plan your future shopping. BTW, FORGET ABOUT TESCO ..... JUST DON'T, EVEN IF YOU HAVE THE URGE TO GO THERE unless.... there is no other shop for you to go.

    NEWSFLASH

Tesco have stopped taking coupons, unless you buy the product.....

or did anyone beat me to be the first to post it:rolleyes:
    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Just taken a while to read all the posts....thankfully the :money: bashing has been removed (thanks Browntoa:T), there is enough ugly stuff on this the thread without that as well;)

Thankfully folk seem to be a bit more mellow, now that they have had a sleep:beer:
and now some sensible suggestions from Gill, to get our beloved leader in to help if he would be so kind.
His voice is strong and loud in the money saving world, and would not have intentionally damaged policies, and is likely to want to mediate with Tesco, to re-instate a money-saving-policy, if he, or his team, sees a way

As has been suggested, by a few folk, it's time to regroup and think of a persuasive plan to entice Tesco back into accepting couponners.

Perhaps a well-drafted letter for everyone to copy and post to Tesco HO (similar to copying and carrying the coupon policy before.) any volunteers CM???;)

Unfortunately, it is difficult to se at the moment, why Tesco would WANT to re-instate the old policy,

With the amount of (wo)man hours taken up by their CS departments, and email departments, just answering questions for everyone on this thread that kept pestering them for their personal email copy.

The extra hours (and cost) of setting up foreign sorting offices for the millions of coupons.

The extra cost of all the forgeries that slipped through.

The extra cost of coupons that cannot be redeemed because they were multiples from smartcoupon.

The (arguably) longer till times from coupon scanning.

Weigh this up against the loss of sales, from most of us shopping elsewhere, and you can understand WHY (especially with heightened media attention) the company blamket banned the coupons nationally, and stopped to take time to reflect
It's nice to be nice .....
You HAVE checked google before asking, haven't you?;)
If you use the "search this thread" button at the top of the page, you may find it's been answered already!;)

Nothing that will immediately help us ! But they announced last week that they will be giving away 'millions' of coupons at the tills - it appears to be a marketing response to Tesco giving double points at the moment.

If only one of the other major s/markets would start taking , say, 5 MOCs per 'shop' they'd really give Tesco a poke in the eye and we'd be home and dry.

  • Well I have recovered a little, have made my meal planner for the coming week, starting to dig into my reserves in the garden shed. Cats will be OK till christmas with the amount of cat food I have tucked away. Tonight is spanish cod with tomato and black olives. Tomorrow will be to Lidl to stock up on veg, a third of the price of Tesco anyway. On and even found a cuple of bottles of wine tucked away- my resolve to give up wine will have to wait until next week! Have a nice evening everyone, and thanks for all the help on this thread.
