I live in a small village between York and Doncaster, I did join a running club last year and it was great but then haven't been for ages so not sure they would have me back now!!!, its a time thing aswell, having kids a job etc means its sometimes hard to fit going to a club in whereas I can just fit a run from home in whenever really so not really sure a club is right for me at the mo.
I'm feeling a bit achy now though, can you believe that, after 3m!!!
I'm going to have a read of some of the last few pages of this thread now to see what you all have been up to to hopefully inspire meAug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00 -

I think I might enter that one myself Rich

We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -

I bet they'd love to have you back millie!
I've only just joined a running club and I'm loving the support and focus that it's giving me.
I work and have kids too so am dependant on hubby getting home from work on time to go to running club nights, luckily we meet at 7pm so it's not such a mad rush.

This has got to be the most accurate description of the Lancaster course today (from the RW forum):

Lancaster Half the return
One year on it was back to Lancaster half. This year it was my only half, god knows what happened there.
Twas a drier and warmer day this year, although it was spotting with rain a little on arrival. Soon brightened up and the run itself was nice and warm. A few warm up laps of the track with Mick and Phil before heading to the start.
Set of with a local fetchie (forget the name sorry) and off we went at around 8:30 pace. Interestingly i didn't find it too hard despite last weeks poor showing. Stayed togeather until the second drinks station a little after 4 miles in.
Cant drink from plastic cups and run so i walked for a little to drink. Soon was off again and carried on happily round to the hill at 7.5 miles. Ran half of it then walked to the top before heading back towards the cycletrack by the river Lune. Heading back this way meant we all had to encounter the flooded lane just past the rather smelly sewage works. At least a quarter mile of calf deep water resulting in cold wet feet.
Walked through half of this wet patch as running isn't easy when its that deep. Drinks station was a little after the end of here so i walked to it and got a drink. Set off again and was going ok albeit with wet heavy feet. Could tell it was a lot harder work though.
Took it easier from here on back and was getting the occasional ache in the left quad. Did walk every so ofte whe the quad was aching too much which seemed to help. Oddly still managed my 3rd fastest time ever for a half which was pleasing espcially given i barely ran in October.
Splits (NB mile marker placement a little dubious)
8:34
8:26
8:48
8:39
9:01 in drink station
8:38
8:53
10:03 inc hill
9:49 inc wet lane
9:19
9:54 quad aching from here
9:58
10:54 for last 1.1 miles @ 9:55 pace
Total 13.1 miles in 2:00:56 @ 9:14 pace
Got collared straight after the finish for a fetch pic
Link (roll over me to see where I go)
Hopefully that works, else i can stick it up into the gallery. Went to see Mick and Phil afterwards and kept an eye on Phil whilst Mick got changed then helped get Phil indoors to change.
Left soon afterwards for the trip home via Asda for petrol. Got some bad cramp in my right leg crossing the bridge leaving Lancaster and as i was accelerating at the time pushed harder through the pain reaction straightening the leg whilst those in front were braking. Not a ideal time to have cramp or do that and i was unable to stop in time and hit the guy in front. No damage to there car but mine has a rather nice dent at the front as well as bust front bit being its plastic. A slow drive home to avoid things falling off and now Die Hard 4 before bed.Debt free Nerd number 1122 LBM Jan 2009 Debt @ LBM £40,086.88 (14/01/09)
