Just a quickie being laptop is infected and i suspect this PC has overheating issues so it wont run for long.
Did Derwentwater 10 in 1:39:13 for Rich's records, pretty sure i can get to here at work as Fetch and RW aren't blocked so will knock up a quick report tonight.
Nice simple 4 mile recovery run earlier in 38:15 which is actually at a faster pace than the race but this run has no hills.Debt free Nerd number 1122 LBM Jan 2009 Debt @ LBM £40,086.88 (14/01/09)

Hi I havent ever posted on this board before but am looking for some advice.
I started running 2 yrs ago and built up to doing 10km last oct. however, I slacked off somewhat and have just been doing about 4miles 3 times a wk since then. im comfortable doing this and have gotten lazy.. I want to push myself and build up the mileage again but I always feel so tired that I stop when Iv done my usual 4 miles. how can I get up to running 10km comfortably when I feel exhausted with achey legs?
Iv considered joining the local running club who run between 5-7 miles. would it be wise to join them? im really scared i wont be able to keep up tho and itl be hugely embarrassing!
runners, please advise!

A quick post on behalf of Becky, who seems to be de-internetted at the moment.
Anyway, she would like to post the results of her intervals this evening. After a warm up mile of 8:26, the 3 x 1Mile session went as follows:
7:42, 7:35, 7:49 (Avge 7:42/mile)
This compares to last week's average of 7:55 so represents good solid progress!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Hi Hayley,
Well the biggest downfall for most beginners is achieving some sort of regularity to their running routine. If you've managed to keep 2-3 runs per week going over a prolonged period then its clearly keeping your interest and is more than a passing phase!
You're experiencing the same problem that a lot of people do when trying to push beyond 4 miles. However, once you get past 4 miles as a regular training run you will find progress comes much more rapidly....we've had posters on here before asking virtually the same question who have gone on to run marathons.
Quite simply you need to focus on one run per week being your 'distance' run. For that run, concentrate on really slowing down, to almost walking pace if necessary, and making the only aim being to go a little further, but not by much....4.5 miles, then 5.0 miles, just inch the long run forward. Keep the other runs within your comfort zone.
You will soon find that running 8, 10, 12 miles etc not really a problem.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Evening!
1Hannah - some great running in what was horrible weather
Intervals are going well becky - most impressive times.
Hi pinkhayley  and well done on the Marathon entry jj.
Simply can I have my tigger legs back please - they've gone AWOL!?
Actually I intentionally took it slowly today as I'm not sure where my body is at. It all helped though6.1 miles in 1:01:17 (10:02/mile), but with the average heart rate closer to where I would expect it given the pace. First four miles were 10:00+ minute miles to varying degrees, the remaining 2.1 less. Felt much better from four miles in too.

Nice intervals Becky
Good running Rich and krider - and no sorry krider, you can't have your tigger legs back yet as I need them for intervals tomorrow morning. I'll know where they are if they've gone missing
evab - enjoy the wiifit; hula hooping is great!!
Welcome pinkhayley - sounds like you've got the running bug already. Good luck with extending your distances.
I've pasted a link to me and krider at the Halloween Nite run below. Sorry there aren't any photos of the race or the ghoulies and ghosties but photography is not my OH's strong point. :rotfl:

Somehow though I seem to have been signed up for a half marathon this weekend! Repeat after me:
*I am not going to race it, I am not going to race it*
Hey Becky, you can run it with me, I won't be racing it either! I'm doing it as I don't have the discipline to go for a long run on my own!And if you try to duck out early I'll drag you back into the race.
Seriously though, life is just getting in the way of running at the moment. DS had a horrible sickness bug last week. He was very ill (I'll spare you the details, but it was messy ) on Wednesday night, all night. It felt like I had a newborn again. I had booked Thursday & Friday off as it was Half Term, but Thursday was a complete write-off. I was trying to make sure he had some fluids, checking him for a rash, etc. etc and I was exhausted. I went back to bed Thursday afternoon for a couple of hours and managed to go out with run club for 6 miles. On Friday I had a morning interview, then we went out to Ingleton Falls for a walk. DS was recovering nicely, but still not 100%. Saturday morning he had a footy game, then we went straight to watch England get shown up by the Aussies in the 4 nations. Yesterday was DH birthday and I admit I could have run but didn't.
