Dont worry, Bj, you cant become unfit in 2 weeks......in fact you can still be getting fitter in the first 2 weeks after you stop training, ie tapering!

So, what you're describing is just the sluggish effects of short term overeating/under-exercising.....not a loss of fitness. It will come back as quickly as you lost it.

As for next Sunday, you can 'train' up to Wednesday after which it should be just easy runs if you are trying to do as well as you can. If you want to 'train through' then just do a normal week's training and use Sunday as a training run, ie a tempo run.

You'll be back feeling good after a few training runs....chin up!:D

Bj- try not to beat yourself up so badly, its a huge adjustment going back to work full time. Maybe try not to focus on the distance/speed of your next run too much (hard I know with 10km coming up) and use it to just have some time to yourself away from all stresses? Sending you big hugs

  • Psst Rich, got any thoughts about the liverpool half in march? I was thinking of doing it bit pricey maybe though and its one month after my first half thats plenty recovery time isnt it?

Thinking of joining a running club

    Morning all!

Had a good week last week totalling 40 miles which is not bad for the first week back after footgate :p

Somehow though I seem to have been signed up for a half marathon this weekend! Repeat after me:
*I am not going to race it, I am not going to race it*

BJ you'll be fine!! Just get a few runs in - the first one back is always hard as you'll have 2 weeks worth of waste products in your system to fight against!
  • Morning all,

Not been running since my marathon as iv had this damn cold and a few other things getting in the way of getting out.

But iv got a new goal now, i recieved an email on friday( but only found it last night) stating that i had won a competition that my wife entered me into.

SO im off to LONDON 2010 i got a free place thanks to my wonderful other half entering me into the competition.

Its with the virgin money team, so i should get some good help as they are the offical sponsor.

*runs off to find a training schedule*

Take care and enjoy the running

I havent done it, so cant comment on the race itself.

But, yes, a month between races is plenty. In fact 1 week is plenty recovery as long as its not done every week!

Only got out once last week!! 7 miles though!!

Finding it very hard to get out these days as the morning runs are sorely missed!!!

Would the treadmill twice a week be better than nothing?

Along with my 7 miler every week!!!
