oops didn't mean to frighten you off alias, all is forgiven for having a rest day x0

I agree with Idio - marathon training is ruddy hard work, can really grind you down and unecessary for races under 20 miles!
What I'd do is a specific half plan and overtrain it slightly and treat the 16 miler as a training run in prep for the half...
Since your 10k time is 50 mins ish then an achieveable half time should be around 1:50 - but will likely be less if you keep improving in the time between then and now.
For pacing play around with this:

It will tell you what paces to run your long, tempo and other runs at for your target time0 -
It might be hard work.... but when you do last real long before the event it feelssssssssssssss so good.Cabbage Patch 09 - 10m - 1hr 06mLeicester 09 -1/2 - 1h 26m0

By the way since Rich set his 1:27:46 he's knocked 3minutes off his 10 mile - think you might just have sent him looking for a December half0 -

Hehe That is soooo funny - As you know I'm targetting 10 milers at the moment and am using the key sessions that led up to the 10 mile PB at Brampton.
I noticed earlier today that the Preston 10 is still going which is the same race that I ran before Brampton all those years ago and is scheduled for November 15th, the week before Brampton just like it was then.:D
But then I noticed that there is the Lancaster 1/2 on 8th November which is run pretty much on the same paths as the Trimpell 20 and looks ideal as preparation for a good 10 miler 2 weeks later.;)Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
