Is a tricky start a symptom of cake addiction, or am I just out of practice?
I find it usually takes a couple of miles to settle into a run Idio - especially when it's cold. The pace feels unnatural and it takes a while to be able to breath properly. I seem to remember a post on here a short time ago that said this was not unusual - or perhaps you're just not eating enough cake2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -

Glad it's not just me then.
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -

Thanks Idiophreak, I will have a look at mapmyrun. Used googlemap yesterday to map out a 2 mile circuit. Took me 30 min to do, which felt quite quick to me, but OH says is really quite slow. My plan is to build this up to 4 miles by going walking every other day. On the other days I will continue to go swimming at the gym, but add in some 'jogging' in the water.

Well done jess, it doesn't really matter about the time at the minute just the fact you are getting out for a run is great. I couldn't run down to the beach when I started which is only 1/2 a mile away!0

Well tbh 30 minutes to map out a circuit is quite slow!;) A bit more practice with the mouse and you'll get quicker.....:p
OH is wrong, 15 mins/mile is a good deal quicker than I started out at...18 mins/mile was quite a briskish walk.....so dont worry, thats fine.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
