OK Experts...why are my legs aching like an achy thing again after such a short run?

Depends on loads of stuff - pace of run, general health, stiffness before you went out...depends if its muscle stiffness or lactic acid or waste products you see :)

If mine are bad (and they get really stiff!) I get in the bath and stretch them once they are warm and rest the next day...

Ok run I did on Friday was very hilly and quick pace (for me anyway :rotfl:) and saturday was very stiff, tried to do a recovery run but gave up after 3 miles as it was painful. Didn't run sunday or Monday today legs absolutely fine, half way around today could feel my thighs starting to hurt. Did 5 miles and it was slow again.

never had this amount of stiffness before...its almost as bad as after the LM

Hmmm it sounds like you are still stiff from Friday - I know it sounds odd but sometimes I am stiff for a week if I havent bashed the pace for a while (which is part of why I run a weekly parkrun)...

It should be better tomorrow if you go out and do a short slow one...but if not take a few more days off and see how you are (you might be coming down with something rather than running stiff if that makes sense)...in the meantime a bath should help along with some gentle walking.

    Nice running Simply :D:D

Shows you are recovering well after long runs that would have exhausted you previously :)
