That flowed remarkably well for 2 days after a swift half marathon, so its all looking good on the strength front. :D

It was done in one of those really fluffy snowstorms, which was rather nice but I certainly do look like an ice cream cone now.

Simply - As Becky says, your powers of recovery are developing nicely. You might get a nice surprise after this training phase in terms of all the strength feeding through to an elevated easy pace.

I think you and Linda are just hill fiends, Ev!

It wont do you any harm though, so you're right to ignore the pace for sessions like that...just let them make you stronger.:)

Hey, I don't set the routes, I just obey :D

Did a good 'repeat' session of 6.5 miles last night, I really like those sessions, we jog to warm up and head for a triangle of roads, (one a hill) and do the triangle 1 time then rest, 2 times then rest, 3 times then rest etc... then come back down 3,2,1 and jog back to HQ.

The trainers are great Becky!!!!! :T

    Parkrun Bradford update....
Rob & I had the meeting with the chap from Bradford Council today, luckily he's a runner himself, turns out he floated the idea about 18 months ago but because he couldn't get anyone else interested he left it.
He was really trying to push us towards Peel Park but as it's a funny layout there's no way of doing a simple circuit without crossing paths and running right by the playground which could be a hazard.

I'd printed out the Council's maps and guides to each park and we went through each one, showing him the Lister Park route round the outside pointing out the parking, disabled access and very wide paths that keep runners away from the playground, the water park and Cartwright Hall. I also pointed out how it fits well with their own Manningham Partnership and redevelopment program. (In my experience when bidding for anything if you demonstrate how it meets their own priorities you're on to a winner)
We mentioned the young lad at Leeds who'd got his 100th Parkrun on saturday and the fact that he now brings his Dad along. I went through the increasing numbers at Leeds too.

We also mentioned that it supports local business (the park cafe) and I spoke to the big chap at Sportshoes Unlimited who is very interested too.
It's been indicated that we will get a £500 grant towards set up costs and there is a big storage facility at the park already.
...so basically, we've got the go ahead!!!!!!!!

    ...Linda xx
It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

Great news Linda :D Let us know when you want us to do some trials :)

Glad the trainers fit too :)
  • Nice one Linda.

It was an item for discussion on the agenda for the Leeds committee meeting last Saturday so I assume their expertise is likely to be on offer in the setting up.

Although on Saturday they seemed to be pumping us for information, knowing we'd done a few, on how they compared to the other venues!:D

Could it be done with 2 laps of Lister Park?....at first glance I thought it would need at least part of a 3rd lap, which may not be a problem but the courses that are maximum 2 laps tend to work better.

Well done on the progress though - there should be plenty interest.

  • When are these Garmin wearers going to give up arguing about Sunday's race distance?

Two Grade 1 measurers recorded exactly the correct distance using calibrated wheels and yet the Garmin wearers are calling it short because a satellite thousands of miles away measuerd it a few feet out.

    Get a grip!:rotfl:
