At least my legs arent stiff ;)

Still undecided whether to run tonight or not...might do one in the garden so I can nip back if necessary :p

Whats the plan for tonight Red?

8-10 I think, see how it goes, it's meant to snow later so hoping I can get it done before it gets too heavy!

    Good luck with that, Red.

At least the distance is not going to cause you any great concerns after your 16!

For those who have only heard the name Steve Jones and havent seen him run, these are a great example of why he became such a hero to normal road runners.

No fear of anybody, including the best in the world.......... just wait until you see the last 100m of the first video!!

It was a !!!!!! when he won the 1985 London though and the newspaper boards were already announcing his victory before I'd got to 20 miles!:p

I love the second video...first ever marathon...World Record. And, amazingly, he had no idea what the world record was. I particularly like the way he shrugs off the drinks stations in a 'drinks are for whimps' manner! And listen out for the commentator 'They're all Smiths and Jones, these Englishmen'. He's Welsh for gawd's sake.

  • Right well I dont think I'll be running at all this week (although I'm itching too go)my foot is purple, black & swollen although nothing seems broken or torn phew! It was probably a bit dumb to carry on running after taking such a hard fall but i figured if that olypian could get a bronze with 5 broken ribs, a bit of a sore foot wasnt going to stop me.

The lad I work with has officially called me out over the GNR so now its not a fun run its about pride and devistating the opposition acd890_125.gif&usg=AFQjCNHSHly_bhioqHI-f0M5Z8BReDQj6w

No stiffness becky? wow that sounds promising on you continuing with pb's for a while :rotfl:

Sorry about your foot but I agree rest is the way forward :)

Oh yeah so whats the target for GNR then?
  • I love it, nothing like war wounds to fire up the competitive spirit!

I can see that GNR target being set, and then re-set several times as you get more confident over the coming months.....

  • Going back to the videos I posted, I think in a nutshell there you have got the reason why British distance running is at such a crap level at the moment.

When we were starting that was our image of what British distance running was about. Now, kids growing up just see the fancy dress parade at London....there's nothing to inspire them.

Great vids rich, thanks for sharing!

    Thu 18/2 3.26 miles 31:02 (9.31/mile)
    Fri 19/2 6.01miles 58:02 (9:39/mile)
    Sat 20/2 6.07 miles 59:15 (9:45/mile)
    Sun 21/2 8 miles 1:20:11 (10:01/mile) LSR undulating
    Mon 22/2 4.23 miles 45:05 (10:40/mile) hills
    Tue 23/2 3.23 miles 29:16 (9:03/mile) tempo

I think I might have to move my tempo run in the week as I was shattered today, legs very heavy and tired. Over all though I'm really pleased with my running and looking forward to a rest now until Thursday.

Hope you have a good run tonght squizz x

  • Thanks for the vid links rich, just watched them on my phone. They've got me all fired up again!

    Becky

I cant set a time for GNR I will have to revise it off the back of Freckleton. I think I originally put 2:00 - 2:10. That might be training run speed by then though! I wonder if they let you change pens or revise your time.

    Have a good run RedSq
