Self draw? Does that mean I'll have to tattoo my number on my arm?
Ooh, I'll make myself a lovely big medal Uk (a chocolate one) and make myself a big goody bag full of fruit and nut. :rotfl:
The organisers have just emailed to confirm the place and give a race number - they are also heavily encouraging number swaps or 'returns' so that they can pass the place on to someone on the waiting list. Fair enough - it's a very small event2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -

I dont mind if people swap through the organisers - Dewsbury allowed it too - so thats why its weird when people still run under other numbers *scratches head all confused*0

'....Running is one of the best sports to be involved in when things are going well. I know it requires a lot of discipline and commitment, but that is part of the appeal to those that enjoy it. Things that come too easily are seldom highly valued, but it can be immensely satisfying when you commit yourself to something, work diligently towards it, and then have to perform well to achieve it....'
'...some of the training can be arduous, but the pure action of running becomes a joy when you are fit and well. There are few better feelings in life thn running smoothly along a soft forest path, on a bright spring day, with the dappled sunshine glinting on the lake and the frsh blossom-scented air filling your lungs'
Well said, Mr Spedding!!!

Hi All,
No Becky, I was out there too.....
I was supposed to have a rest day today following my 14 miler yesterday, but things didnt go to plan.
Sat 7 Miles...ok
Sun 7/14 Miles.....got to 6.5 miles (thankfully near home) an had a touch of the Paula Radcliffes. Thankfully, I got home, and I just couldnt face running straight out and finishing the run.
Mon 14.5 Miles. I woke up today and felt ok so I decided to give it a bash, and it was ok.! 2.20 ish, about 09.40 per mile.
That puts my last 7 days total at 44, my highest ever!
I have struggled towards the end of last week, but today was fine. I cant say it was easy, but I never felt I was going to stop, and my lap times stayed consistent. I had that "low fuel" moment around 11 miles but it felt good, like I was testing myself in the right way.
Say off tomorrow,,off to watch Southampton in the Johnsons Paint Southern Area Final. (for those that don't know, its similar to the European Cup)
Anyway enough of me.
Simply......your'e a machine! .but.....looking at your trainers...are you sure you did'nt squash a yorkshire terrier or something....I wonder if a its the first road kill caused by runners.
Evab, Well done on the PB.....and quiet a bit under the golden hr.
Rich, Its funny because I just look at your race times and think...blinking hell.....but....looking at your times you really have improved by loads, and looking at the pics you can really see the difference......an inspiration to us "bigger boned" types.
Becky, Ok....he's got to be worried now....and how do you smile and wave at that pace, I would have snot and vomit and tears of anguish all over my face....sorry if you are eating.
Newbies....hello.....welcome...you will get so much encouragement from these lovely people. And it is addictive. Take it slowly, and it all comes together in little pieces!
Phew....long one....off to eat everything in the fridge.....
PS...Mrs Mascott is on her 3rd or 4th week of 3 runs per week. Shes loving it.Sealed Pot Challenge 2013: No 1898

Well done Mascott for getting out there - thats a fantastic pace for your long run - I remember I was running mine at about 9:50-10:30 and I happily got round in 4:31 so thats a good indication - are you doing any warm up races at all to pace gage?
I did nearly pass out when I crossed the line tbh - but I am not used to running 10k as a race so I did make some schoolgirl pacing errors and had to really fight at the end to carry on at that pace - think I was slightly delirious when they called out my number0 -
I agree, Mascott, that you are going plenty fast enough to be able to complete a 4:30.
So, you just have to think distance, distance, distance from here to develop strength and stamina.
In the build up to a marathon it is always difficult to get the balance right between speed and endurance, I should know I've never managed it yet, but at the moment your speed is definitely ahead of the game for your target....so have no fears about backing off the pace if you need to in any future runs.
Thanks for the positive comments and say well done to Mrs Mascott too. Are you going to get her to Wimbledon parkrun some day soon?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Perfect - a progressive 22 miler is just what the doctor ordered!:D:D
The first lap can sort out the hangover and then the cranking up of the pace can start ........
