Eeeeeek! I've been catching up on the running thread as it's over 2 WEEKS since I've done any (bad chest infection and lots of travelling / late finishes with work) but I feel VERY guilty and more than a little worried about the Kilomathon which is 5 weeks today. Have decided to go out this afternoon and do my old 10K route I was doing last year. OH thinks this might be a bad idea and thinks I should just head for the gym and do 5-6K on the dreadmill (which I hate with a passion!). I'm a bit worried about going from nothing to a 10K but till I try I won't know. And I can always walk for a bit!Good wine needs to breathe, if it stops breathing try mouth to mouth.0

Sorry Rich didn't mean to post and run but I just popped on to download my Garmin and see how our racers got on today before I showered and had my brekkie.
20 miles done and dusted and a most excellent run it was tooI'll pop back a couple of pages to copy/paste this weeks runs and post properly now.

:j That was my most comfortable 20 miler to date and I really enjoyed it. Definitely one to put in the memory bank for the weeks when it doesn't go so well.
01:47:29 for the first 10 miles - 01:45:24 for the second 10 miles.
1st mile 10:53/mile - 20th mile 09:53/mile.
Welcome back k-bagpuss - don't feel guilty, you need to let your chest recover sufficiently before venturing out. Hope your run goes well.
Hello and welcome to the thread gailey - it sounds as though you have made a good start. I wore a short sleeved tee and capris this morning and soon warmed up enough not to have needed any more layers. A word of warning about running with an ipod - a lot of races don't allow them so try to do some runs without it or it will feel alien when you have to leave it at home.
Looking forward to the race reports from evab and catspaw2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
That's a very big indication of where your work is paying off, Simply!
To be feeling stronger at the end of a 20 miler than at the beginning is a sure sign that your muscle glycogen stores are developing well.
Great work.:T
And while the positive news seems to be in the air......Ev has just landed a 58:30 10K, which I believe is a huge new PB. Congratulations Ev.:TGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

What a great idea!! OK I am wanting to run the Manc 10 k in July, which I have done twice before but I want to do it sub one hour, and also there is the Great North Run, which I don't know if I have a place in, but I have never run that distance before and am a bit scared of it!!
I gave up smoking on Jan 2nd so think the stars are in alignment for getting a good time, what should I do and how should I do it people? I am in your hands - any tips or ideas on training regimes please!!
P.S. I would also like to lose 1 1/2 stone!!0
