Money saving to the end Rich - even when they're past running in you find a use for them :rotfl: The arm twist seems pretty fair doesn't it? 49 weeks of free running in exchange for 3 volunteering sessions.
Ok, whilst I'm still here (bed is beckoning soon) can you add two races to the fixtures list when you next update please?

Thanks
It does indeed - so now that I have 50 under my belt I suppose I owe them 3!!!:) Although, running and volunteering are not mutually exclusive, its just marshalling and running which are!
Talking of which, they were quick off the mark asking me which size t-shirt I wanted to mark the occassion...:D
They were just talking on the news about the rugby at Twickenham at the weekend. They showed a picture of what the ground looked like 100 years ago and, lo and behold, it was a cabbage patch. So that answers the question that so many runners are puzzled by....:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

A couple of tweets by Haile:
'It is hard when you wake up and you want to feel the adrenaline, instead you feel the pain in your back. My physio did the best he could.....'
Reading that you would have thought that he'd had a disaster rather than winning in one of the fastest times in history!
But not one to look on the negative side of things:
'I still feel I can run the WR, so I start focussing on my next race (Half Marathon) in New York in preparation for a new attempt! '
And who would bet against it?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

You have to hand to this guy for still getting his run in last night. He's just up the road from here and trust me it was treacherous. It was exactly that problem of cars not being able to stop that kept me indoors:
Cracking day for me today. Arranged to meet a couple of mates at 6:00pm for a quick 7 miles or so before the proper Club Run at 7:00pm - so a 14 miler planned. Snowing like a b*stard since about 3:00pm here but set off for Club at 5:40 anyway. Get to the end of the road, press the brake pedal and the car goes into a Torvill and Dean style spin (I was only doing about 18 mph too!). Just about straighten it up and it's obvious I'm going to plough into the car in front who's stopped at the junction. So, I just steered left, up the kerb and into a wall - tremendous! All the front end smashed in, wheel arch collapsed and front left tyre not looking too hot. Still, at least I only trashed my car and not the other fella's in front - but that's not really THAT good is it?!?!
So, get out of car and examine the wreckage - decide a flying roundhouse kick to the bumper is the way forward, to try and make it at least driveable. I'm wearing Sauconys - not a wise move. So I opt for the full on Hulk Hogan style drop kick instead. That too fails. I then remember I'm merely a feeble runner, and not Giant Haystacks. So I abandon the car and just run to the Club instead (luckily am wearing running kit already). Do a nice 14.5 mile loop, return to car and it's still stricken with bumper hanging off. Kick it again - hurt my foot a bit this time, so walk back home.
