It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

Well done Linda and Becky. You're an inspiration. I've decided I will go out on my first run tomorrow. What should I wear? I don't want to buy anything expensive as hopefully there will be a lot less of me next winter, and I don't think they do my size, and I'm not out for long.
  • Well my husband has never asked for a BT :p

Now that did make me laugh!

Thanks for all your !!!! kicking positive remarks, plodded around 5K this morning, not too bad, done the food shop - appropriately!

Just tired, and got a new nasty boss. But as my daughter said, he's fat and probably feels he has to prove himself!

I'll get my garmin out, and start clocking the miles again too, always encouraging to see the distance covered at the end of the week. Although, I hate the size of that watch, it's really big and clumpy to wear.

Excellent bj, maybe it'd help if you can recognise what it is that makes you turn back to those old comfort eating habits, if you can recognise your 'triggers' you can learn how to tackle them, sounds like you're undre a lot of stress at the moment

Just whatever is comfortable, I started out in my slobby comfy pants and bought running gear as I got into it!

PLEASE make sure you have good trainers before you start, look for a sports shop nearby that will check your 'gait' to be sure that you are not going to injure yourself.

Look around for local running clubs too, it's great for the cameraderie, support and really helps to motivate you, you'll probably find a range of ages and abilities there, not just marathon fit runners built like racing snakes! You'll probably be able to try the running club for a month or two before having to commit yourself and pay the membership fee.

But the news of the day is that Becky's new racing shoes are now unrecognisable due to a liberal coating of mud. Nonetheless, I think she has still fallen in love with them considering that her pb of 24:12 has just been smashed into smithereens with a clocking of 23:25 or 7:33/mile. Oh, and a new best WAVA of 61.47%!!!

    Happy weekend running everyone.:D:D

    Wowee, well done Becky :T :T :T

Thanks Linda. I am looking forward to joining the local running club as soon as I can run 5k.
