Morning all.
I've been thinking ahead to Blackpool. it looks like my in-laws want to come a long (I'm running with my sister in law). Now they've asked what we want to do afterwards and I'm thinking sports massage! Apart from binging on food of course. If I do book a sports massage, is it best if I try to do it the same day, or day after the mara?
Also, they want to know if we want to do anything the next day. So my question is, what will I be able to do the next day! Will a long-ish walk be out of the question?! as you know, it will be my first marathon experience.
Some good running going on, everyone. Looks like ukevas gets the consistency crown. You seem to be some kind of a traction engine, that you just set at a certain speed and keeps going at that pace regardless of terrain or distance.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -
Well his garmin does tell him as hes goes along whereas some of us are just doing it by feel
I would say a long walk is off and anything involving stairs is definitely off - but a short walk and not too much sitting in one place should be fine - I did sightseeing of NY the day after mine (after flying for 7 hours) and it was rather painful!0 -
If you want a massage the earlier the better - if you think of it as trying to get the waste products shifted by the bloodstream before they become sludgy you'll get the idea.
As for walking the next day you should be fine (but slowly) - in fact you could run the course again as a warm down. No? Oh well, just a thought........;)Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Thanks rich and becky,
The in-laws will be staying in the lake district and may well be planning a walk. But probably no more than a few miles and very slowly with lots of "viewpoint" stops, judging by my last outing with them. I'll probably say yes anyway. Maybe the sports massage will help avert the worst from the next day and a bit of walking might even help. If I don't feel up to it on the day I can always go a short way and meet them in one or more of the inevitable pub stopsRunning Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -
