Well, work has been abandoned for the day and, at the moment, it looks like running will be too. But there's plent of the day left yet, so we'll see..........

Roads are probably as dangerous as I have ever encountered today which is a bit odd considering it is hovering around freezing point compared to -10c and worse last week. It looks like even main roads arent getting gritted, just the Highways Agency roads, ie motorways.

But we just need a couple of degrees temp rise and everything will soon be sorted..............

Hi there, I know just what you mean. Frustrating isn't it?

I went for a run yesterday in the snow through a local park, but it was a bit dicey in places as the snow was so compacted it was like a skating rink. I've been trying my best to keep up with my training over the last week or so, but it is difficult. Only managed 5 miles in the snow, and it is so hard because the style isn't right. I had to lift up my knees more than normal, and trying to stay stable takes its toll on the ankles and core muscles too. The furthest I have run this week was my treadmill 10k. Hats off to you Simply for doing 10miles on the treadmill after 12+ in the snow. That really is dedicated!

I can't wait for the snow to melt and things to get back to normal!

I like these photos. The Bramhall organisers on Saturday obviously wanted to prove that they hadnt cancelled unnecessarily so took a few pics:

    Bramhall2.jpg
    Bramhall3.jpg
    Bramhall5.jpg

Its hard to believe that, at the same time, we were racing no more than 1.5 miles away!!!

Lets hope some of that snow melts before Saturday....thats our next venue to be visited!:D

    Evening all :)

    Mon - 6.3 miles in 61:51 9:47 mins/mile

Didnt think I would need a recovery run tonight after yesterdays low mileage so planned to go longer but was very stiff and sore so called it a day at 6.3 - still a nice easy one to start the week with - its still icy in the park anyway, so tomorrows tempo run is going to have to be done in the garden.

Well done on getting out Catspaw

    Happy running everyone else :p

Hmmm, Athens, Berlin ..... so it'll be Copenhagen for 2011 then?? :rotfl:

Evening Becky :hello: stiff and sore is the order of the day I think. This running on snow and ice certainly takes it out of the legs - like chick I've found it hard on my ankles and I've got some very funny aches to the outside of my hips today. I'm not sure where I'm going to do my Tempo run tomorrow - my garden certainly isn't big enough ;)

Well done catspaw - getting lost doesn't sound like too much fun but yummy to the pub lunch.

Considering that I had all but written off any sort of running today, I have to be delighted with getting a session like that in.

A combination of just enough thawing and the fact that most of the traffic had been cleared off the roads earlier in the day actually made for pretty good running conditions.

I was starting to feel like a caged animal that hadnt been let out for a couple of weeks, although I've no idea why since I've run on each of the previous 4 days. Maybe it was just the fact that I was about 40-50 miles short of what I had been geared up for last week.....?
