well done bb, just concentrate on the distance and not the time and you'll soon find that it will build up.

Just posting to agree with this bit, really.

When you're building distance, you should be running so slowly you think to yourself "this isn't even worth it - I should just walk instead" - you'll find that just gently jogging along like that, you're able to go much further than even a regular jog - and the further you go, the easier you'll find the shorter runs, so the pace can be increased a bit.

    I agree with idio's agreement!

You'll find that the distance runs will actually increase your pace. Intervals aren't really necessary until your natural improvement plateaus.

We're driving up to Leicester for a wedding at about 09:30 tomorrow, but I don't think you're on our route I'm afraid!

That also answers the question about Wimbledon Parkrun - not this week. I will be doing it fairly regularly in the near future though, especially after I get back from the US.

P.S. Have you considered selling the motor and joining streetcar, UK? Sounds suitable to your kind of useage!

A much better run this morning; my legs felt much less tired.

Sorry to hear that you're still feeling poorly evab; I'm not too sure about this tapering lark. It's nice that my legs don't hurt when I'm going up/down the stairs but I'm quite missing the challenge of reaching new weekly mileage totals. I think I must be odd

Looks like you're in for a busy weekend Uk; I'll think of you while I'm lazing about eating fruit and nut. :rotfl: :rotfl:

  • Good morning all :hello: It's very quiet on here - does that mean everyone is out running???

Good luck to poorbabe with the Eden Project Marathon tomorrow; also to Uk, Idio and Becky for their races. Mascott - do I remember correctly that you are not running tomorrow?

tq - how is your tapering going?? Only a week to go; are you excited????

evab - only two weeks to your marathon too. Are you recovering from your cold?

I've been putting together my schedule for tapering this week. So far I have:-

    Tues - eyebrows waxed
    Wed - nails infilled
    Thurs - fringe trimmed
    Fri - massage

I'm going to be exhausted!!! :D

    I was out running!

Simply - love your weeks plans!

    Week 14 - (W1/9 to Reindeer 10k run)
    Mon 5/10 - 4m (first attempt at Fartlek) 47:05 (11:46/mile new pb previous min/m best was 11:54)
    Thu 08/10 -4.04m 48:48 (12:04/mile)
    Sat 10/10 - 6.1m 1:15:45 (12:25/mile)

I am doing this long run right aren't I? its meant to be a long slow run isn't it? (not long in comparison to most of you but you know what I mean)
Following :money: to keep us debt free :j
  • You're spot on Hannah. Your long slow run should be just that - nice and slow so you can extend the distance comfortably (ish) :T

Your post prompted me look back at the beginning of my training schedule and it's only 7 months since 6 miles was my LSR - it's amazing how much can be achieved by building up slowly and consistently. :D:D
