Its busy in here this morning....great to see!:D:D

I'm finding this Daily Mirror thing a bit odd. Not only do you have to pay through the nose to enter you now have to buy the sponsor's product to even get a place in a ballot, which doesnt even guarantee a place.

So where is this going? Whats to stop a shoe manufacturer ring fencing a few thousand places as priority entries for those that buy a pair of its shoes. This slippery slope is getting slippier.:p

But why bother....its only a half marathon like any other. In fact it isnt, because you will get far better action photos from normal races which arent as packed en route.

    I'd better stop...its almost becoming a rant!:rotfl:

Anyway, I'm back in the snowy north now so instead of being charged by deer, as at Saturday's parkrun at Richmond, I think the bigger risk this week is going to be marauding polar bears.:p

Beer Tins - Race duly noted. Cant wait to see what you're capable of over a half.

Good luck with the boots and second walk Annie :)

Mascott - we were wondering where you'd got too on our way into Chinatown earlier - how timely! Nice to see you are still running - am I right in thinking you are doing London as well as Chick?

    Hi Becky And Rich!!
Yeah, I am hoping to keep in touch with here a bit more now as I get ready for London.
I have been busy at work, and moving.
We are back in Tunbridge Wells and loving it.

I have suffered with the bad weather down here. It has affected my ability to go out enough for the weekday runs but apart from a couple missed I have kept up with my saturday and sunday (long) run.

today is a swim, then tues weds thurs, then fri rest.

My pace for my 10 miler was 9.40. and it felt comfortable. That was undilating with a couple of big hills.

    Anyway, enough about me.............
Just read where you are up to Becky. That is some serious improvement. And I note that your Park Run time is impressive... something for me to aim at when i find time to head back to Wimbledon.:p

As for Rich. You are a machine.!
I have concentrated on your tips on stride length and style and I am really feeling improvements in my ability to keep going at a more consistant pace. (and my ipod headphones stay in better:T)

Thanks Mascott - all signs are pointing towards a 4 hour mara on 11th April so long as I can stay uninjured till then :D

Do you have a goal in mind for London?
  • Rich you dont have to buy the paper to enter just do it online through that link alias gave. I wont win a place anyway so my money is safe :rotfl:.

Cant remember which i got but they were £55 and from my local running shop. Not very mse but i would rather pay a little more to them for the advice they provide and help with selection and being able to try them on than buy of the t'internet.
hmm think they are these newer version seems to be about the same price everywhere.

    *On-off lurker sneaks in*

Hello! I really want to take up running and would love to enter the GNR this year as I think it would give me some focus and incentive. So I gather this ballot is a 'names in a hat' type thing - you enter but aren't guaranteed a place? Is it worth entering the Mirror thing or are you better off just waiting for the main ballot to open (which has more places)?

Also I've been having a look on the site and can see that they ask you for your estimated time -I have no clue as I've never ran before, can anyone advise on what would be an average sort of time for a 28 year old woman?

    Thanks!
