Congratulations K_Bagpuus on the engagement & good luck with the 3st too.
Fab Parkruns BT, Becky & Rich
Annie, Welcome & I hope the new boots are ok for you tomorrow.
Good running too from Simply & Evab
Hope I haven't missed anyone!
Well I didn't get out for my run today as we had snow overnight that had iced over, was hoping to get out tomorrow but the forecast isn't looking too good so will see what its like in the morning.
Quick question (hope I'm not being too dim!) wheres the best place to find out about races nearby?Following :money: to keep us debt free :j0 -
Hannah I use a combination of google (if I have a date in mind), Runnersworld event index (if I have a distance in mind) and the list here:
http://www.ukresults.net/
(which is mostly races up north - but there might be a nice list similar for races in Wales if you google)
Have fun0 -

That was an interesting experience
We assembled at the start, I heard an announcement that there was 2 minutes to go and shortly after noticed that the front runners were off and running - it caught most of us by surprise
I set out after them only to come to a standstill shortly after when we were funneled onto a footpath, the same thing happened again when we came to a sharp right turn and again when we were taken off the track around a cattle grid.
It was difficult to get going in the first mile as we were packed onto the tracks so tightly but it pretty much cleared after that. It was nice and icy which meant the iciest patches had to be carefully negotiated, I nearly went flying once, but it wasn't too bad.
The time above is my watch time - the race wasn't chipped timed and I'm sure that my gun time will be slower as I started a good few seconds behind it. Official times will be posted on Monday.
Overall it was an enjoyable run but not one that I would rush to do again as I found the bottle necks a bit frustrating. Lovely fresh weather though
Hope everyone else has had good runs today.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
Wow, Simply.:T:T
If you did that time despite being baulked a couple of times that is very impressive.
Regardless of the official time you have actually run the 10K distance in 55:47, and can clearly go a little bit quicker, which would give a WAVA of 60.45%. (Compared to your 57.81% best 2009 WAVA)
If I was you, I'd be looking for another flat 10K to do PDQ to see what you are really capable of. Exciting progress.:D:D
And considering your 5K PB is 28:15 it looks like you've probably run your fastest 5K this morning as well into the bargain.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Simply - sounds lovely. Well done on your time as well - great running! :j
It can be annoying when there are bottlenecks at the start, but races usually thin out as they get going, although I agree it is frustrating at the start, when you are raring to go!
Not been out yet, but planning to go very soon. Since we didn't have to get up early this morning, we snuggled up toasty and warm in bed for a bit longer, then we took down all of our Christmas decorations and have had a loft trip to put it all away again. (I won't go into the loft if DH is away - I'm scared of falling out of it!).
K_Bagpuss - Congratulations on your engagement! I am sure the 3 st won't be a problem if you keep up with your running.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Thanks Chick/Rich - it was the stopping and starting that made it frustrating. I think overall that there were just too many runners although it might have been ok if it hadn't been icy too.
Wow, I'm chuffed with that new WAVA Rich - that will do nicely for the momentI will have a look around though to see if there are any other 10k's coming up locally in the near future, it would be good to do another one before my legs get too tired from the training for NDVM.
I'm off to look at my splits again to see how the 5k's measured up.......2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -

A good solid outing at the end of a full week. It felt a good bit easier than the corresponding run last week so nothing to complain about.:D
Becky has had a great long run today - she may tell you about it when her fingers have thawed out enough to operate a keyboard.:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Evening
Rich is posting now but I have run 20.8 miles!!! 18.64 miles in 2:57:59 or 9:30 mins/mile , then I waited for Rich to finish got a bit cold so treated the last 2 miles as a warm-down - so chuffed both with the distance - before I stopped I felt really good and strong, and with the time per mile which is also the fastest ever for such long distance
Wow well done Simply!!!!! Second highest WAVA this yearAm really pleased for you considering it wasnt the best race and you didnt taper for it and you've had niggles this week
Nice running Evab as well0 -
Thanks for all the nice messages
Only 10 weeks to the Kilomathon so I have some serious training to do! Although I took a heart rate monitor to the gym today aiming to keep my heart rate under 157bpm and I couldn't manage it even at a slow jog! So I did an hour (covered 6K) and I'm going to put the monitor on again when I go out for a training session with my local running club on Tuesday just to see what it registers when I am running. I'm hoping as the weight comes off and the training increases the heart rate will improve!Good wine needs to breathe, if it stops breathing try mouth to mouth.0
