  • Hellooooooo!

I just entered the GNR 2010 ballot :T
    ...Linda xx

Is that a charity place or something because it doesnt show as open to me.

    Hi all.

I'm still running. Have had a virus though and now have a cold I am hoping it doesnt go to my chest so I can still run my 10k next weekend.

Only 7 ish weeks to my first half.......

Oh I bought a pair of trail shoes because the ice is still thick round here so my first run in those will be today.

Hello, happy new year running peoples!

I've, er, been a bit lazy.. well, I've walked loads. Only run twice last week - one five miler and one six - very slow on the snow/ ice/ slush/ mud. Got my serious 'get on with it' running head on now though - 10 weeks till the Kilomathon

    Congrats to k_bagpuss, that's lovely news :)

Morning all. Did a slow 12K yesterday and a moderate 5 miles this morning. I need to get both weekly and "long run" milage up, so plan to run every day bar Wednesday this week. If snow doesn't scupper my plans, anyway!

Thanks for all the nice messages :D
Only 10 weeks to the Kilomathon so I have some serious training to do! Although I took a heart rate monitor to the gym today aiming to keep my heart rate under 157bpm and I couldn't manage it even at a slow jog! So I did an hour (covered 6K) and I'm going to put the monitor on again when I go out for a training session with my local running club on Tuesday just to see what it registers when I am running. I'm hoping as the weight comes off and the training increases the heart rate will improve!

Forget about the heart rate monitor and do what feels right. I started out with the monitor and had exactly the same 'problem' as you, could hardly jog before the monitor would go really high, so ditched it and have been fine since!

Hi Becky, yes, have decided that if I can't run, at least I can walk. So went to check the 5mile route yesterday, but as my internet connection was off the whole weekend, I had to do it from memory and went slightly wrong. Not too badly though and had a lovely walk in beautiful sunshine. Will try to go every night now, though tonight I probably won't have time.

I know! I'll add 10% (or maybe a teensy bit more!) to my long run and overall mileage! Got to practice what we preach, don't we?

Rich, can you put me down for the Lydd Half Marathon on the 14th March, please? Just entered.

Thanks becky - I actually read this thread most days I just dont post much. I was ill but still managed to go to work although oh said I was an idiot well as good as said that.

Thanks alias. I've put myself in the ballot, I'll wait to see if i'm in before I tell oh though :rotfl:. I only want to do it the once.

I discovered buying my trail shoes that asics are a crap fit for me. My road shoes are a 10.5 (just wide enough but a little bit long)but my saucony trails are 10 and feel like a much better fit (more glove like). So I will be switching if they turn out to be good to run in too.
