Annoyingly I probably won't be running on Friday. I went for a tiny little jog this morning and now my hamstring is really hurting. I am so frustrated, all I want is to be able to run again! Does anyone have any experience of how long a hamstring tear takes to heal?Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

I made a comment this morning that I didnt think there was a long run in these legs today due to the last 2 day's races.......so with that in mind I was very pleased to be able to get through nearly 21 miles at a strong pace.:D

Evening Everyone :hello:
I realised as soon as I came to the first incline that 16 miles was unlikely to happen today - my right thigh and calf niggled almost immediately. I was able to keep going until a short sharp hill at 12 miles so I cut it short and had a nice 2 mile walk home in the sunshine.
A huge WELL DONE to Becky for her 2nd win and you weren't too shabby either Rich.A couple of good LSR's too - great stuff!!
You have my sympathy Sea - although I can't help with any advice I'm afraid.
Hope you are feeling better bj.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
Sounds very sensible to me Simply but a none too shabby run anyway0

You're sounding like an experienced runner now, Simply....listening to your body's warning signals and taking heed.
You've still got a good 12 miler under your belt though to keep your momentum going.

Thanks guys; I'm learning Rich but I'm not there yet
Your advice about eating protein to mend my muscles made me realise that I don't eat enough of the stuff on a day to day basis. However, I made a mistake on Saturday by, unusually, eating a very protein rich dinner - I've done this before and have paid the consequences on a LSR the following day.

Hi there everyone. I hope you all had a really good Christmas. I haven't been around much recently. I've had three really busy weeks and a stinking cold, so although I have been doing some running, popping on here to chat with you all just wasn't possible.
Good to hear about some really keen running from people. Well done to those of you who were keen enough to get out on Christmas day for a run. I was full of a cold and too busy preparing Christmas Dinner to run.
It sounds like the Parkruns have been a great success over the Christmas period too. We have had loads of snow and ice here, making conditions underfoot very dangerous. Quite a few races were cancelled because of the icy conditions making them too risky.
Fortunately one of the big races of the season went ahead yesterday, the Ribble Valley 10k. This attracts a really big field and hosts the Northern 10k championships so it attracts some very good runners. Conditions were great, with the roads clear of ice and snow and the weather cold and crisp. I wasn't sure what I could expect as I haven't run for over a week because of my cold, so I was delighted with the year's PB of 51:41. The winner finished in 29:21 and the first lady in 32:53, just to give you an idea of the quality of runner in this one.
Next weekend we are doing the first Central Lancs Half Marathon which should be a good one. I'll use this as long run training, before I get into my serious training for London. My club have a marathon training group so at least I'll have company for my long runs. I much prefer it to training alone.
Keep up the fantastic running everyone!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

We were looking at the Ribble Valley results last night Chick and it did seem to be on a par with the Rothwell 10K for strength in depth....800+ runners with 200+ under 40 minutes.
I didnt realise you were doing it though. 51:41 is fantastic, especially following some downtime.
So back at the top of your game, eh?:D
