Ordinarily today would have been a rest day but it is now high mileage season for marathon preparation...so time to get the miles in!:D
Tonight's run was nothing more than a recovery run but, considering it means 31 miles have been completed in the 2 days following back to back races, it is a pretty satisfactory outcome.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Morning all!
I'm back to work. There has been no running for me as my cold is still ongoing and has gone to my chest now.
Seems like everyone else is doing really well.DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -
Hi all, hope you lot had a good Christmas. Haven't done a parkrun as there isn't one near the in laws.
I saw the posts on the 23rd, I got pelted with sleet playing football that night, too.
Other than that, got a 10k in on Christmas day, fairly slow running with my sister-in-law. did the same again on the 27th, but a fair bit faster.
And this morning I've got a blocked up/runny nose and am sneezing a lot. Surely not ANOTHER cold?! it's just getting ridiculous now!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

The race report from Xmas Day:
Today's run wasn't about personal bests - although this was more down to the treacherous conditions than the festive spirit! War Memorial Park did, however, look particularly seasonal with a healthy covering of snow and when the santas, reindeer and elves turned up one by one in their sledges, we knew we were in for a highly festive morning. What was even more encouraging were the number of new runners who decided to make Christmas Day their first ever Basingstoke parkrun: there were eight new runners today who we hope to welcome back very soon!
Mark Shepherd (SM35-39) of Team Kennet and Mat Shaylor (SM35 -39) of Basingstoke & Mid Hants AC emerged as first and second placed runners within the first two kilometres and, failing to heed his own advice to "run slowly given the conditions", Mark managed to hold his speed over the thick snow to win in 19:57 (which would give a "snow adjusted" time of 16:15, so we understand). Mat finished eleven seconds behind in 20:08. Steve Darby (VM40-44), running the event for the first time, finished third in 20:40.
Michelle Lloyd (SW30-34) took her first win today in an impressive snow PB of 22:52. Naomi Shaylor (VW35-39) of Cani-Cross was second in 23:29 and Rebecca Hall (SW25-29), also running for the first time, was third in 27:41.
I like the concept of Mr Shepherd's 'snow-adjusted' times - does that mean I can claim a 16:58? Sounds fair to me.......:p:p;)Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

To be fair, even though he was joking, there were people behind you with PBs on that course of:
19:23, 23:49, 19:37, 24:08, 23:58, 21:31, 23:32, and 21:44........so definitely worth a 23:59 I reckon.;)Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

It must be beertin's and tirlittan's fault... Ice has gone. Cold has arrived
(Actually was OH, but I pop in here again and find more snufflers!
). A sign of how rubbish I felt last night, as we were coming home in the car we passed a couple of runners and there was not the usual slight pang of "I want to be doing that". Thankfully the sandpaper in my throat has now subsided, but my plans of some nice quiet (longer
) lunchtime runs in these quieter three workdays have taken a back seat.
Excellent speedy running over the Xmas weekend from some people - parkruns, 10ks, the lot! And some great photos too.
And Simply, I still can't get over you being a Granny - you are far too young having met you!But Lego does rock!
