Awww why is everyone sick (stay away from me
)??
Poor you guys - I'm hoping to go out for a 10k run on the way home tonight, may or may not be a tempo depending on how I feel once I start (am still very stiff from Sunday!)0 -
*sneeze* - sorry becky! I did catch it in a tissue I promise
At least with this cold I really don't feel like running - with the ice I was getting frustrated and annoyed by it hampering me.
Enjoy the 10k0 -

Hi there, sorry to hear that lots of people have colds. It is really annoying isn't it? I've just finished with a snuffle myself.
My running club had a lovely event this morning that me and DH took part in. It was a Christmas Handicap race (about 5k-ish). Basically, they look at your 10k or 5k best time and give people a head start based on how fast or slow you are. As there were only two senior ladies taking part (and the other one was V60) I was second to start. It is quite a strange feeling setting off on your own with the rest of the field watching you! Anyway, I came 6th but I think the handicapping was a little awry. A chap with a 32-minute 10k time set off only 4 minutes behind me.
But it wasn't about winning, it was really about the kids. There were about 35 young runners there, from U11s to U15s all taking part very keenly. It looks like there will be some pretty good runners here in a few years!
We all took a gift along with us, and at the end we were called up for our 'prize' and we took a different gift away with us. It was lovely!
We did a 2-mile run to the venue and a 2-mile run back so in all it was quite a good morning out.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

It was a very grey and soggy London this afternoon but still rather pleasant from a running point of view.
Still running on heavy legs but some decent muscle recovery compared to 24 hours earlier so no complaints.
Sounds like you had fun this morning, Chick.....although I think that handicapper had been slipped a fiver by the 32 minute guy!:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

You see, your training is on a completely different level to most of us Rich! I'll be happy just to get through the high mileage weeks, let alone thinking of speeding things up as well.
And Becky - I'd definitely be needing extra portions to trot out that kind of distance.Hope your mum is OK.
