Thanks, Simply!
I'm afraid that would seem very likely!;)
It would have been a good idea to lay off the stuff last night but a couple of bottles seemed to accidentally open themselves...and therefore it would have been wasteful not to consume them.:p
Its interesting looking at the results around the country today...you can tell which courses were iced up by the dramatic slowing of times. These are the races to get involved in though....the days that the spirit of parkrunning comes alive.:D If the marshalls are willing to get out there to put a race on, getting out there to run is the easy bit.
I think I was sharing the lead with a famous bod early on in the race, although we havent quite worked out who he is until the results come up....possibly one of those tv docs on 'This Morning' or something?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Hi all - sorry for being absent again - work took over (evenings as well
). However I did manage a nice (cold) 4 miler on Thursday at 9:37/mile pace. Quite pleased with that as I have been so tired from work.
Been for about a 3 mile walk today, but so so glad I'm not running. Ice city around here. The road leading to ours (never mind ours) on the estate was a complete ice rink at 2pm today when we got back from the walk. And the snow is still around where there is no grit. Sun yesterday/today has done almost nothing to thaw it!
Reading parkrun was even cancelled as a result - though I reckon that would have been OK on the snow on the grass. However Reading council didn't think it important enough to grit close to where it is run yesterday morning despite other councils doing their sections of said road - grrrrr (it's right near where I work so I had to drive there yesterday).
Some excellent running going on; red, Simply, evab, and then rich and becky with park runs extrordinaire!0 -
I am reading all this and feeling like a lazy lard***e
I hope it motivates me last time I ran was August. and I was so pleased I managed a 58 min 10k this summer which is good for me. I was full of good intentions....0 -
Thanks Krider
:D
I see the Reading parkrun organisers have some lessons to learn ..;)
.....With great regret we've been left with no choice but to cancel tomorrow mornings parkrun. After much consultation with weathermen its looks like we're due further adverse weather and we feel it would be irresponsible to send you off around the course with potential problems underfoot. As things stand, assuming we have no further snowfall prior to next week, we'll see you bright and early on Boxing Day.
From all of the parkrun Reading team, have a great Christmas.....
It is one of the prerequisites of being a parkrun organiser to be irresponsible and test the limits of what the weather can throw at us.;)
There is no way any sensible H & S assessment would have let us run this morning (or even worse, at Wimbledon back in February) but these are the races that are most fun.
I notice the Black Park parkrun at Slough, which isnt that far from Reading after all, went ahead in the snow with plenty fast times recorded:Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Snow/grass running would have been cool rich - it was certainly the preferable surface for walking on earlier0

... parkrun is not just for Christmas
Its For Every Saturday
I like their seasonal slogan:D

Oh dear it looks like it might be a tough run later:
Sunday
A dry bright start but cloud increasing bringing showers of hail, sleet or snow to most parts by the afternoon. Some of showers quite heavy giving a further covering of snow. Bitterly cold with temperatures generally remaining below freezing.
