Hehe I scored 5/10 on a 'Whats your running IQ?' test.
What a daft set of questions and answers - most questions could be answered with 'It depends'.
See what you score:

I like the last one!
You should change your shoes annually.....even I cant make a pair of running shoes last for a year and I'm a tight wad!:rotfl:
Can you imagine what would be left of a pair of running shoes after 3-4000 miles?
And saying that trail running is the best running surface is all fine and dandy....except the most appropropriate training is to replicate the conditions under which you will be racing. I'd love to race on the roads against someone who has done all their training on trails....they'll be in agony.
Resting 'When you feel like it' is apparently wrong too. The answer is 'Once a week (minimum)'. Eh? How does that make 'when you feel like it' wrong?
And a stopwatch IS the most useful running accessory. So there!:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Been away and not caught up with theads yet :-( Running not going great either- managed a mile at weekend- couldn't get out until the eve, and penrith was poorly lit-wimped out at a mile! Run on tues 2.5miles was aiming for 4miles but need started playing up so cut it short. This morning was the worst only made it to end of road before pain in knee started- not sure what I have done and walking is ok..... very frustrating.(Family of 5: 2 adults & 3 children aged 7yrs, 4yrs, and 18months)0

Right that'll wind them up - have emailed them to complain about their stupid quiz and how misleading it would be to a newbie runner0
-
Hmm that's weird, when I did it I put '500 miles' for when to replace your shoes and it said that was correct!
Actually I've just tried again with random answers and I think they're a bit confused :rotfl:

On the actual running front, I did a very slow couple of miles last night, much coughing and snotty-nosedness! Got my mum staying for a few days so better not abandon her for too long but planning to pop out for a quick 3 miler tomorrow morning and 5 on Sunday.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

i got 10/10.:p
I have officially started my VLM marathon training. So far I have not missed a session, three days !!!
Also, last time i was on here, Rich pointed out an article about running style/foot strike.
I had a good think about mine and although I was reasonably pleased that I was hitting the ground roughly where it recommended within the stide, I thought I was very heavy on my feet, and that I was getting too much vertical movement.
Anyway, my normal "commuting pace" 3-5 miler pace is around 9.30-9.45 per mile.
I have now done two runs with my new flatter stide and I was running between 8.30-9.15!!
more importantly it feels great, and so far less tired at the end of the runs and it feels like less effort for more gain....
its still early to say if I can train myself to run better, or if it was a freak set of reults, but really looking forward to my longer run on sunday to see if when i get a bit tired i can keep my new stide pattern going.....
overall a big thanks to Rich for pointing out a good article.
sorry I havent been on to say hi to you all by the way, but work is busy and now time is hard as i need to be running more!!
by the way has anyone done the Brighton Park Run??Sealed Pot Challenge 2013: No 1898
