340 days to go BJ and simply
Agh! Shall I book now? Marathon or 10K - this is the question? There's time to try and train for my first marathon I guess - eek!
Doing the Beddington Park 10K on Sunday - looking forward to it. Really am getting a bit addicted to the 'race' element. Think it's good, 'cos otherwise I don't think I'd be getting out the door for my runs, I'm not going nearly enough as it is, so tired with work. Was at the Hairdresser of the Year awards last night - home at 2.30am and back to work for 9am - I'm going to bed in a minute, and haven't run! tomorrow, I'm going to give running home from work a go. Got to work out something with my bags and stuff though, take a bit of planning. Any suggestions? I guess I have to get used to running with a back pack, but I don't like the idea.0 -
Well done, Tirlittan.....you're starting to get into a routine now and seeing the benefits from it.
Its nice and refreshing in this wind, isnt it?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I used to do it a lot but I did find in the end it affected my form and gave my stiffer shins (one is already quite stiff) from sitting at my desk all day to running straight away...but it was good to get the miles in
So I suggest - take in everything you need but leave as much as possible at work, such as shoes, coat etc then you can take those things back later in the week - you really want as small a backpack as possible and to wear it quite tightly so it doesnt bang around too much - it can be done and is quite comfy I find, but just cant do it while doing the leaning forward thing so I had to stop0 -
Wow sorry missed your post tirlittan - WELL DONE0

Tirlittan - well done, what a good feeling eh! Becky, I'm not surprised there's a headwind on your route, I know that stretch - wow! I bet it's cold too. Thanks for the advise on bags - I'm going to work on my bike, with running stuff in bag, spare top for Thursday, then I'm going to leave everything but my keys and work pass at work. The catch is, I'll have to run to work Thursday morning! What the heck, give it a go! it's only 2.9 miles, but I thought it would get a few miles in during the week, I'm struggling to get the mileage in.0

I ache
Will aim to go round the block tomorrow to get rid of some of the stiffness.....Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

A bit slower for me this morning - quite a strong headwind and I felt tired from the weekend (it felt like the middle of the night when the alarm went off at 5.15). I'm glad I didn't leave it until this evening though - it's raining sideways
Well done on your runs Becky and tirlittan - some great times there!
bj - it only took me a few runs to get used to my backpack. I leave everything at work and just take the essentials, like keys, home with me.
Hope your foot holds out Uk
Interesting article Rich - I'm not sure I understood all of it but I've bookmarked it for future reference.

I think everyone is having a slow interval week Simply
Good on you for getting through them in tough conditions though0 -
You'll get your reward in terms of strength and stamina from getting through those intervals, Simply. Nice work
I'm a happy bunny now - they've measured the shortened course that we ran on Saturday and the official distance has been declared as 9.3 miles. http://www.borderharriers.co.uk/administration/fckeditor/UserFiles/B2C%202009%20RESULTS%202009.pdf
What that means is that the overall pace for the 9.3 miles was 6:09/mile, which would equate to 1:01:30 for the full 10 miles (a significant improvement on the 1:03:02 in the Cabbage Patch and with adverse weather conditions.
What I'm even more happy with is that I set out to run a good strong 10K and then hang on as best I could. As it turns out the 10K of 38:11 was at 6:09/mile and the 'hanging on' for the last 3.1 miles was also done at 6:09/mile! Very Happy!!!:D:D
Lets see if it can be backed up on Sunday!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
