Hey millie; don't knock your 5.25 miles. We were all there once, some of us not so long ago, and the most important thing is that you had a great run and it felt good. :T

Those incontinence knickers weigh you down when they're full
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
Just to prove being ill doesnt have to completely mess up your training I ran 21 miles last week and did 21 miles of walking so thats not too bad all in all0

Becky, you are truly amazing, and an inspiration to us all. Round of applause for keeping going when not so well, and big hug to make you feel better.
My shoes are dry! Hooray! Defo gonna get a second pair. I've got Asics 2140 - now, should I try something different, or just buy another pair of the same? Wish they came in black for the winter months though.0 -

Yep I sing (though not at the moment but the chest is too bad)
And I write as well:D
I'm very lucky in that I live very close to where I work and I dont have to put masses of long hours in so I do have free time, but it can still be tough to fit working full time around running sometimes - a good balancing act is needed - for example in busy months I wont watch tv at all :eek: because I am either training, working, travelling or sleeping
B.J. if they are comfy go with another of the same I reckon - why take the risk on some unknown ones0 -
Hello! Some great running been going on
I did three miles last Monday before going on hols (in about 30 mins, accidentally switched stopwatch off so not sure of exact time). Intended to run on holiday but walked so much I was absolutely knackered so ended up being just a couple of little jogs. Have come back with a bit of a cold - had really sore throat over the weekend - but rested for a couple of days and will resist the temptation to hide under a blanket tonight and get out for a run.

mrsplinter wrote: »Rich - I've got quite vague goals as I feel like I've fallen into running by accident. I started going to the gym in March as I was unfit and overweight. I heard about parkrun from someone so had a go and thought running and races my help with motivation. I started walking/running in June and I'm doing much better than I thought; I think this is because I've lost over 2 1/2 stone on the way. My running goals are something like sub 20 min 5k. Sub 45min 10k as they are nice round numbers. I'd also like to have a go at a half marathon and increase my mileage from 15-20 miles a week.
Nce to see ambitious targets!:D
Since 20:00 5K equates to something like 41:30 10K you'll find it a lot easier to crack the 45 min 10K first.
Once that is achieved you can be thinking in terms of something like a 1:40 1/2 marathon.
Good luck with that!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
Blackpool Marathon 11/4/2010 (Target=2:59:59) (6:52/mile)
Abingdon Marathon 17/10/2010, (Target=2:48:57) (6:27/mile)

Evening all!
Mon - 5 miles 50:26 10:05mins/mile
Well that was interesting...since I cant do speedwork this week because my chest is still bad Rich set me a little technique to try to see if it helps me at all...
Basically when I run currently I am leaning back slightly, almost as if I am putting the brakes on, so he told me a little way to try and lean forward more and open the chest out and relax the arms - look on the ground about 5 metres ahead of you instead of directly in front...
So well it seems to help, but obviously is quite hard work at the moment because I am not used to it and having to concentrate on it all the time is also hard work...
However, dont think its suitable to do in the garden - too many corners and too many twigs to trip over and branches to run into :rotfl::o:p
Will be giving it another go tomorrow anyway and Rich is going to have a look on Sunday and see if I'm doing it right :eek:0
