    Afternoon all!

Some great running going on!! Mrsplinter ooo I am jealous - so much progress in so little time - very well done yesterday! At least it didnt go up the hill we had to do on the Bolt 5k - evil I tell you!!! Dont ever believe anyone who tells you Wimbledon is flat - yes the common is but the rest of it aint ;)

Well done to Hannah too - hails girl are you mad?!?

Was keen to get out as was feeling decidedly grouchy this morning...anyway still feeling very chesty/coughy but got round 12.1 miles (I think thats what it is) in 2:06:51 - which weirdly is the same as my time for the half last weekend :D So thats a nice solid 10:28 mins/miles, am taking that at the moment!

Anyway, wont be doing any speedwork this week either as even though my legs are fine with some pace my lungs are still creaking a lot!

Happy running all! Hope you are enjoying the sunshine Uk - feeling ready to do a nice Parkrun soon for your marathon kickback?

Edit: sorry thats 12.5 miles apparently so thats 10:09 mins/miles which is much better and has made me feel less grouchy...(still a bit grouchy though so going to have a glass of bubbly in a mo :D)

Glad you're recovering nicely :D Be careful in those shoes though - we don't want you getting injured. ;)

:D.. Hopefully the next marathon build up will be a lot more smooth so I can run in the right shoes :T.

UK - That was interesting viewing. The conditions actually look quite refreshing, its just that small matter of 19km uphill that leaves me cringing.

 I man of your stature would eat them small hills up with no worrys. ;)

Besides its the 2500 birthday of the marathon next year. so in essence Athens will have to be included in your plans, as they are many a Marathon... but only one Classic Marathon :p..

( I might even return to put in a real performance even though it will be 5 weeks after Berlin ):eek::eek:... Madness I tell ya.

Good conditions today, a complete turnaround from yesterday evening.

It all went well apart from a little (well maybe not so little:p) confrontation with a rather well built chap after one of his kids pretty much took my legs out after erratically swerving her bike straight into me. It was all caused by him goading them to race faster and faster until the inevitable collission happened. I was not at all impressed.

Anyway, the run was very comfortable and any soreness in the calves that could have been expected from yesterday seems to have gone, so all good news.:D

  • Ouch rich! I did have one kid swerve around near me today as it happens, but thankfully went off down another path. Not something I often encounter I'm pleased to say.

Great result on the 10k mrsplinter.

Some good running today from lots of people; good to see Simply and becky getting back into things too. I'm still making full use of the tigger legs though...!

I've decided to count Sundays as the first day of my running week at the moment - seems to fit better with a variety of things coming up in the next few weeks. So I'm pleased to report another comfortable run today; 5.2 miles in 48:29 (9:19/mile). This was the same pace as the last run I did :D Average heart rate was a couple of beats lower though. Also far less variance in the mile splits ranging from 9:34 to 8:53 pace. Felt good too.

Total for the week = 5.2 miles.

hannah - well done on your new max mileage for the week, I've been lazy about logging mine, so going to start some serious record keeping this week. Which week are you on your plan?
This was the end of week 6 for me (although last weeks running was not what I should have done!)

Rich - sorry to hear about the collision - sounds nasty. If it makes you feel any better you are in good company. The same happened to Paula when she was training a few years ago. It didn't seem to affect your pace though! Well done.

Glad Simply and Becky are out and about again. It must be frustrating when you want to get out but can't. My 'rest' days are really just CBA days. :o

UK - don't miss out on the bragging rights, you've earned it!

Great running by Hannah and MrSplinter as well.

My trail run this morning was great fun. We got lost, had a farm dog barking viciously at us, and waded through fields full of mud. I'm getting used to cleaning my trainers! Anyway, despite the slight mishaps, I had a brilliant time. It was all topped off by coffee and muffins when we got back to the cars :D. We were out for about 2.5 hours, and covered just under 10 miles. Not fast by any means, but but wading through mud slows you down, believe me. So did poring over the map trying to figure out where we were. :rotfl::rotfl:

Roll on next weekend, we're doing another one!

  • Mrsplinter - they are amazing goals! They'd be my dreams!

Linda, yes it's the toenail saga we've spoken of before, once I sorted my shoes/socks, it's all been OK, I've messed up by running in my old shoes today, but I think a second pair is worth the investment. They'll both last longer, or I'll have a worn in pair to take over at somepoint. Other sports cost way more than running, so the price of a pair of shoes isn't so bad.

Ukevas - are you still in Greece, I'm so jealous! I want to be back in Glyfada.

Hannah - maybe we should set a date to both do 5K and break the 10min/mile? I've done it a couple of times, by chance! But have back slidden a bit.
  • That collision didn't sound good Rich - I find cyclists (not only small ones) the biggest risk on runs - the adult ones can be quite aggressive. Hope you didn't incur any injuries.

Glad you're still enjoying possession of the Tigger legs krider - mine aren't quite back yet but at least I'm back out there.

It's good to see you're enjoying your running chick; it sounds as though you had a fantastic time on the trails this morning. You're a brave lady wading through fields of mud. ;)

  • Hello all, I'm still alive honest! I'd not done any running since the session on the running track on Bonfire night due to work commitments and being away! So to get back into the spirit of things for the running club on Tuesday I did my 10K route that I haven't run for weeks and even though I had 3 or 4 wee walking (recovery) bits I managed it in 1hr 14 which I know is ridiculously slow but previously that was my best time when I was training for the Great North Run so I was quite pleased really :o)
Good wine needs to breathe, if it stops breathing try mouth to mouth.
  • Evening all! some good running today from everyone, and I was coming on here to tell you how proud I was of my LSR today a whole.....wait for it.......5.25miles!!!!, but hearing talks of 16 miles by Rich and 12 by Becky certainly puts my efforts into perspective, ho hum!

Anyway, had a great run this morning, it felt good which is the first time it has felt good, I don't ache at all and my plan is to increase my weekend run by a mile a week now until I get to around 10-12 miles. Might be there by xmas.!!
