well done Mrsplinter & SimplyFollowing :money: to keep us debt free :j0

Mrsplinter, it was mad going out yesterday! If only I'd know my shoes were going to be wrecked though - I'm getting a bit stressed about them, they still aren't dry and I don't have another pair! Thinking of going out and buying a cheapish pair today for wet days, but then, that'll probably mean I'll fall over in them! Hmm.
hannah - well done on your new max mileage for the week, I've been lazy about logging mine, so going to start some serious record keeping this week. Which week are you on your plan?
Oh, and we may have excess bouncing around, but I'm assured running firms everything up, so here's hoping!0 -
Great result, Mrsplinter - 2 minutes improvement over 10K is quite a chunk of time. If the hill is the one I'm thinking of then we went down it a couple of times in the Bolt 5K earlier in the year it will certainly have added a few seconds to your time. Whats the next target now?
Simply - Good to see you back in the routine of things.:D
Hannah - Nice work, thats a good solid last 2 week's of training you've done. When the increased strength from that comes through you'll be feeling stronger and fitter...
UK - That was interesting viewing. The conditions actually look quite refreshing, its just that small matter of 19km uphill that leaves me cringing.
The weather in London seems pretty good at the moment, calm, mild and even sunny. So looking forward to getting out for something like a 16 miler in Battersea in about an hour.
The only slight concern is sore calves from what amounted to a cross country race at yesterday's parkrun; there is always an element of soreness when slipping and sliding is thrown into the equation. Although this pic coming into the finish gives the impression that conditions were fine when in fact most of that path in the background was under several inches of water.
Becky is already out there - she seemed very keen to get out there and get on with it today!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

BJ I'm the same I only have one decent pair of trainers and they are now covered in mud from this morning! I bought them especially for running when I was suffering from shin splints and I'm a bit worried about running in anything else in case my shins pack in again. I think I need to invest in a new pair of trainers anyway as they've got a hole in them.
It's great you got out there in the elements. I started running regularly in June and I've never run in the rain. The only time I decided I needed to run and it was raining I wimped out and drove 5mins to the Gym!0 -
Nice running mrsplinter and Hannah :j
bj - like you I'm going to have to consider buying a second pair of shoes - I've put it off because it's taken ages to find a pair that fit and don't make my toes sore. I think I've cracked it now because I've got no black toenails left - I'm just missing a few :rotfl::rotfl:
Coo Rich - Becky's a bit eager today isn't she? Great photo by the way
Thanks for the link Uk - how are you feeling (apart from CBA'd)?2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
Rich - I've got quite vague goals as I feel like I've fallen into running by accident. I started going to the gym in March as I was unfit and overweight. I heard about parkrun from someone so had a go and thought running and races my help with motivation. I started walking/running in June and I'm doing much better than I thought; I think this is because I've lost over 2 1/2 stone on the way. My running goals are something like sub 20 min 5k. Sub 45min 10k as they are nice round numbers. I'd also like to have a go at a half marathon and increase my mileage from 15-20 miles a week.0

I pulled 4 whole toenails off last night!
My toenails used to be all lovely and painted!
We have a fartlek session tomorrow night at run club.
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
It's delightful isn't it Linda? I'm hoping that now I've got the shoe situation sorted mine will grow back in time for summer :rotfl:
It could be worse though - when I joined this thread Hypno was suffering with terrible blisters - and posted the photos to prove it. Now those would have put me off running forever. :eek:2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
