I love this comment by Tirunesh Dibaba:
"I did not know what I could expect. Therefore I was not that fast in the beginning."
Fast enough to go on to smash the world record by 27 seconds on Sunday in her first road race for 4 years!

Hi All....
Its nice to be back on here.
We have finally moved from the Big Smoke, back to Tunbridge Wells. I have been so busy that I am still finding my feet with the running. I have managed 3 runs last week but no long un for a couple of weeks.
Sadly we had to have our old moggy put down just after we moved in here which was cr*p. The good thing is she went really quick and didnt suffer (apart from being a diabetic for two years!)
(by the way Rich.........whats the chances of logging on and finding you threatening to assainate kittens!!!.....dont worry......i agree......i totally hate this stupid cat related sickly card things......and my old ugly mog would have vomited on them!
Back to the running......I got fitted out at Run and Become and I am now a Brooks man! Very nice and very very comfy.
I have managed a couple of after work runs before heading on to the train, but I am mindful of the fact that I am not going to be the most popular person to sit next to.:o
My new after work run is 4.25miles from St Pauls to Waterloo East via Lambeth Bridge. LOvely...........
At home I have a VERY hilly 4mile route round town. I was hoping to get out round the resevior (Bewl Water) this week but Time has caught up with me.
Overall I am loving the change down here, now its time to settle in to Marathon Prep.!:eek:Sealed Pot Challenge 2013: No 1898
Target 2013... Half Marathon under 2 Hrs:cool:
Run 2013 VLM in PB: -4:28.260 -
Mon - 5 miles 50:26 10:05mins/mile
Tues - 6.2 miles 59:21 9:34 mins/mile
Now that was interesting - much easier to do that leaning forward thing on tarmac rather than stones, am getting the hang of it I think but boy do my thighs ache now! I've found if I tuck my chin in my chest that helps me leans forward and I see how it takes less effort - still finding the landing on the mid foot and pushing off difficult but the first few miles were there style wise I think...it gets much harder to maintain as you get tired but hopefully it will become more natural in the next few weeks
Hello Mascott - good to see you back and you've enjoyed you move :j I used to run to and from the train when I commuted - it made sure I always got a seat0 -

Tonight was planned to be a half-hearted tempo run but as soon as I got out there and felt the strength of the wind it soon got converted to an easy run. It was one of those out and back runs with plenty headwind and no following wind....one of those age old mysteries!
Dont worry, Mascott, I dont really go around murdering small fluffy animals - well not until they start abusing even smaller fluffy animals that is!:p
HANNAH - Nice going on those hills.:D To double the distance at the same pace means that you have made a genuine pace improvement over that time of something between 20-25 secs/mile. Thats a big chunk of improvement.
Nice to see the Leaning Runner of Pimlico is shaping up nicely.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
