That sounds good to me, I can make it on Friday or Saturday instead.
I'll build up to being hard core runner-in-the-rain soon. ;)

See you've got the thinking now - dont make it a chore make it fun - you should always want to go out (unless you're marathon training and then sometimes you have to force yourself because you are so damn tired :o)

    Have fun!

I don't have any waterproof gear, not suitable for running anyway.

Generally you're soaking by the time you get back from a run, whatever the weather, so never really understood the whole "waterproof" idea...

Keeping warm in the rain is more important, but if the running doesn't take care of that, a decent baselayer certainly should...

Becky, if it was me then I wouldn't try for a place unless I knew that I would be able to afford it if I got in, my OH would say the complete opposite though so who knows!!

Tirlittan, I too love running in the rain, if you can get out later then do, you'll be fine!

I get that - either rain drenched or sweat drenched - I prefer rain :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Well done - being able to do 6 miles on tired legs is a great sign of improvement :D:D

I will think about your plan extension in the next few days as well...I dont think I've done it yet have I?? (my memory is terrible )

I'm only starting atm and 'running' so slow I don't really get drenched in sweat yet...I'll admit it, I'm a wuss, for the time being anyway. ;)

  • I love running in the rain, yeah it's always harder to motivate yourslef to getting out there when its pouring down but once you're out its great, I much prefer it to running in the baking sun.

I did my trail run this morning, 4 miles woohoo!, it was still hard but no harder than the last couple of runs and I ran further so I think I'm getting back into it. It was very muddy, sliding all over but great fun, dragged oh out with me too so that was nice, no rain here tho.

As for running with the sniffles, the advice I always was given about illness is that if it's above your neck you're ok to run, if it's neck down so you feel chesty etc then don't until you feel better.

Having said that, running with a hangover is awful and something I would never recommend!

Having a running/money quandry - you guys will understand!

OH (Rich/Steve) can have a place in next years NY marathon if he wants due to his fast times - I do not, but the lottery is now open = great.

However, its $265 which is a LOT and I know you dont have to pay if you dont get in but I'd hate to get a place and not be able to afford to go...what do you think? Should I take a punt on it..?

Hmmm...and the reason behind the question?

Not satisfied with one trip to NY/Washington in May, now trying for one in November too!;)

I'd forgotten about the qualification for that. I suppose if we can wangle a bit of free accommodation £200 or so for accommodation plus race entry isnt too bad.:D
