  • Hey what's with all this illness going about on this thread? I think it must be something to do with the weather getting incredibly cold lately, anyway don't pass it to me please as I've only just got running again, but I hope you are all feeling better soon!

I'm feeling ok today, not aching as much as yesterday but I'm planning on 4 miles tomorrow trail run, I love the trails much more than roads, road always feels easy after running on the trails lol!

Hayley - it does get easier!! just stick with it and you can do it. If anyone had told me in July that I would go from not being able to run for a full minute without gasping for breath to this week having been able to complete a 10 miler I would have thought they were stupid but I have. :j

Simply & Becky, hope you get a good nights sleep & wake feeling better.

I got out for my 4miler on Monday afternoon but had to go out with my 15month old in his pram so completed the distance but it was really slow. Anyway looking forward to a 6 miler tomorrow :p

    Here's the route...

A few hills in there but I loved every minute of it

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
  • I've driven pretty much all of that route today, Linda. Its a little challenging in places, I would say, especially out of Shipley going up to Heaton!

If you can enjoy that you can enjoy anything!:D

I wouldnt recommend that you run it alone at night, though, with Manningham being on the route!

  • yes, have just been running that bit further on one of my three runs of the week.

thank you for the words of encouragement cus even though I managed to finish the longer run yesterday, upon completion the words "never again" did pop into my head!

i know i can do it because last yr I ran 10k race but now I really dont know how I did it at all. sometimes i just think im not supposed to be a runner and that I should try and do something else instead!

i will stick with your plan and see where i end up!!

    Morning all.

Dragged my bf for a 4mile walk yesterday (my running route), he was tired, but came anyway and got rewarded by it starting to rain after half way through...:o I did cook him a nice meal after though.

    Hi all,

I know how you feel, simply. I'm really itching to go myself. The cold has "gone" but I've still got stuff on my chest, so I'm trying to be patient. Loads of walking in the meantime! Maybe tomorrow morning will be the day I can finally head out for a run again.

Don't know why everyone's getting the cold. I think in my case it was jetlag/lack of sleep on the flight* that left my immunity low. I expect I might have caught it on the flight, with all the re-circulated air etc.

Anyway, I'm not contagious any more, so I feel I can come back onto the thread without infecting everyone.

    * was spread across 2 seats in the empty-ish plane, blissfully asleep when a stewardess woke me up to tell me I had to put my seatbelt on because of turbulence. Couldn't get back to sleep after that :(

Starting to feel a little better here - cough is going but my breathing is still laboured...

On good news went to the docs for other stuff and despite being ill my BP was normal and my pulse was 54 even though I had walked there rather quickly tee hee ;)

Also my weight has dropped a few kilos on the last 6 months (well it was static but I was nearly naked the last time and this time was clothed and wearing shoes!) - still got a bit more to go but its going in the right direction towards racing weight which is good :D

Possibly be able to run tomorrow (I hope!) and then i've only lost 3 days so nothing too bad :D
