Yes there were the mods rockers etc but if my parents & any parent in the street for that matter , heard any off us being cheeky to adults we would have been punished
i really do think respect has gone out the window

I really cannot remember any kids drinking in the sreets when i was growing up

But that's just you and your surroundings. I'm 23 and I don't know a single person who would disrespect someone in the street. I don't remember growing up in a culture of disrespect. If I was cheeky to an adult I would've been punished. Just because I didn't experience it, doesn't mean it never happened.

I think anti-social behaviour has definitely changed over the years, but it's rooted in the same things. Ill education, lack of discipline and attention from parents, deprived surroundings and disillusionment with society.

Hi well update youths returned after police left. They threw more rocks at the front and back of the house. We live at the end of a terrace of houses so they can target back and front.
Partner went out only to be faced with another barrage of abuse from up to 12 youths.
Police called out again but youths gone by the time they got here.
The good news though is the police inspector ie cheif is going to call out to see us. They are going to bring photographs to see if we can pick the youths out. They said they have a good idea of who they are. Fingers crossed.

Hi Iv just got back from a healers meeting only to find that the double glazed window at the front of the house has been smashed. Not satisfied with putting the first one through they came back to do the second pane. All this at eight tonight.
OH said the rock was more like a boulder .
The cid have been and the police from last night. The cid were chasing them in the park as they were in there in case of more trouble. We have the cid officers personal number if they come back as he is staying in the area.
I feel sick my six year old daughter plays in that room and one of the cats sleeps near the window. They just have no respect or empathy towards anyone.
Thanks for the replies and Ill let you know what happens as the police have said they will prosecute if they catch them.

God that's awful. I hope that they catch them. Nobody should have to go through that. Get a small cctv with a video recorder, you can hide them in allsorts of things (otherwise it will become a target itself)

  • I'm sorry but these little rats deserve what they get.

My family spent eight months in a living hell because of people like this. Windows smashed on a daily basis, and eventually my young son was hit by a brick in his bed (1 year old at the time).

The police couldn't care less and did nothing to help.

We had no money to move out and in the end (the night my son was hit) we packed up and made ourselves homeless. Even now I can feel myself getting angry and my body tensing up - placed in that situation again I swear I would end up in prison!

You really cannot understand what this does to you until you've lived it.

Don't worry everyone. The police are doing the best thing they can think of in the road where the mother killed herself and her daughter. They are patrolling the area, looooooads of cops. They are patrolling to help keep the yobs safe!!!

    How wrong is that!!!!

Even when the police act nothing gets done though... The family that lives opposite me are a nightmare.... 8 kids + 2 grandkids... The eldest brother now lives in a caravan on the drive... Local authority housing... The 2 older boys are in and out of prison, the eldest daughter is popping children out at an alarming rate with no sign of a partner, the next 2 daughters down are bullys that are going round the estate cusing criminal damage and abusing residents... The youngest children and grandchildren are left to play in the street till all hours and are quick with their mouths already... Over the last 2 years I have had the police out numerous times, community support, the antisocial behaviour team, you name the council initiative and they've been on our street... So many promises of help and change and moving them on.... But nothing has changed in 2 years! (Apart from the nasty mouthy 15 year old is now a nasty mouthy 17 year old with a motorbike...)

Oh and this week, the council came round and started replacing peoples kitchens... The message there seems to be, let your kids run riot and make peoples lives a living misery and we'll reward you with new windows, bathrooms and kitchens....

I was stoopid enough to buy my house.... The council won't give me new windows, kitchen, bathroom, boiler, whatever... I can't afford to move... And with scum like that around I'd probably never sell even if I could...

I dream of getting a rifle and sitting at my bedroom window with it, picking them off one by one...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

These youngsters should be made to attend a Boot Camp, no matter how young they are. Then made to 'work' in the community - giving something back!
I hope the government see fit to stop pu**yfooting around and being PC about everything. Human rights - Pah! We should go back to the old days, bring back the cane in school (I know sometimes it was extreme) and every town should have a set of Stocks!
  • On our local news the other day a reporter tried to speak to the father of these thugs. The father warned him to get off his drive or he would call the police!!

Maybe they are now getting a little of the same treatment they gave out.

We live in quite a nice village but have had two large patio windows smashed this year. Our house backs on to a green and by the time you get out there they have run away. The police couldn't do much because we don't know who did it but I would so like to know and tell their parents.

It has cost us £500 to replace the panes and have security lighting up but what makes them think they can destroy our property.

We are worried it will happen again now the dark nights are back so we have bought some corrugated plastic which we stand up against the doors every night. I just hope they don't go for one of the other windows now.
