I have so enjoyed my first year. This time last year if you had told me (or my H2B) that i would have 3 hens and an allotment i would have laughed myself to death lol

This made me grin - it's one of the most cheerful things I have read in days!
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

Aaaaaaaaaw, that is so great to hear! :D Well done on making such a success of your first year here and long may it continue. :T

Guess what? Happy.gif I have posted the new challenge thread and am finding it sadly exciting! :rotfl:

  • I'm in for 2010 lyndasharp (plus H2B and Bessie the cat)

Hugs to everyone who is having a tough time at the moment. I can lend you my cat for a cuddle if it would make anyone feel better? She's 'helping' with my laptop at the moment.

No idea what we'll be aiming for in terms of budget next year, once we're married we will combine finances and then will have to start thinking about budget all over again...

Just paid my car insurance without getting the price reduced, unfortunately there's only one company that does business insurance on classic cars so there wasn't any chance to haggle. Still, £180 for two cars (including breakdown cover) isn't bad.

I had a nice day visiting the place I used to work, as my work stores some things on their site and I had to go and help with unloading more stuff there. Had a good chance to [STRIKE]chat and catch up on gossip [/STRIKE] network with colleagues from another organisation :D

    Hi Nykmedia,

Kerfuffle signing-in for duty, hoping to live, as opposed to survive/exist on 4.5K for 2010.

This is using the same catagories as Nyk, in that it's not all inclusive.

    Good luck everybody. :T

Hi NYK ...... please can you add me JTB2412 :D:D:D. I'll be sorting out my figures over the next couple of weeks and will post my budget then (still very much work in progress!)

Glad to hear the first interview went well bails and you got through to the second round - they'd be mad not to choose you :D. Good luck ! xxxx

Mooloo sorry you're still having a rough time. Can SS not help you with money now you have another mouth to feed? Might be worth mentioning to them ?? Don't forget we're all here to support/help if we can, keep posting ! xxx

natalie nice to see you back :D.

brightonbelle seems like you've been on quite a journey ! Well done for getting this far :T You make a great team . It's really lovely to hear how hard some people are prepared to work to make a go of things and even better when it turns out well xxx

Bit of bad news here, we could lose our allotment  . Not permanently but the local town council are voting soon on whether to build a road through them :mad::mad:. We will get a new plot but not straight away. I don't know the ins and outs yet, meetings with us affected plotholders are next week so I'll know more then. Very disappointing but I'm not going to get too upset. You have to deal with what life dishes you out and there's no point in me worrying about it so I'll cross whatever bridges when they appear . There's far worse going on for other people so I'm going to stay positive and be thankful for what I do have :D.

Good news is I've started my Xmas shopping .............. for 2010 :eek:!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:. I've nearly finished this year but being one never to resisit an absolute bargain, I've just bought some smelly sets off M&* which were 342 and 50% off. Coupled with a 10% discount code, free delivery code and 12.5% off when you spend £35 I did rather well :j. So, they'll be popped up for next Xmas :D:D :rotfl:.

Right off to cook dinner (spag bol tonight). Visiting Mum and Dad for the weekend (DDs birthdays, one on 3rd Dec and one on 4th , bad planning!). 2 birthday parties will do nothing for the waistline ! :p So if I don't get chance to post before tomorrow, have a fab weekend everyone xx

Well done with the M&$ bargains, JTB, my order's been dispatched and I'm expecting to receive it tomorrow. :D Hope everything works out with the allotment!

Kerfuffle, I'm still playing around with my budget trying to make allowances for stuff like hens and ducks, as their feeding wasn't included in the 2009 budget, so mine is also a work in progress with even more belt tightening going on in the hope of managing on the 4k for yeat another year.

I've added the names to the latest list on the new thread for 2010 but will be staying on this one to see the year out as far as the current budget is concerned. I'm still also honing my LETS trading skills in the hope of keeping to my budget next year. :D

  • Lingojingo in for the 2010 challenge please Nyk.

Mooloo - big hugs for you (((((()))))) don't have much practical advice, except to echo what others have said about asking ss for financial help.

Frankie hope your DD has thought about what she did and appologised.
Secret admission time - I once did the same thing, same age, but came back at 2am. Had had a massive row with my Mum, my Dad was working nights, and i knew Mum wouldn't be able to leave younger sister & brother to come adfter me. I was so ashamed in the morning, and strangely it made my relationship with Mum much better.

Bails :j at you getting to the next stage, keeping my fingers crossed for you
