Morning,
Mooloo wanted to send my love and hugs and anything else that you may need.
I had my own drama last night. DH and I went to parents evening and then on to a chinese buffett(I couldn't face the liver!) came ome to my DD1 (15) having left home. Rang all her friends, wandered the village. Had to get the police involved in the end, who were great. She turned up this morning, but as you can imagine none of us have had much sleep. DH is really cross but I still have that sick to my stomach with worry feeling. She'd argued with her siblings and taken off. Slept under a bridge on the local bypass and then had crep back and slept in one of our cars from about 3am. What a nightmare. She is determined to make me grey. Thankfully everything is ok now and she's safe. The police came back this morning and spoke with her, hopefully that'll get her to think twice next time. Kids!
So, apart from the need to drink lots of alcohol! (not really) Today I'm taking the dog to the dog groomer £23. Last night we went to a chinese buffett, I think it came to around £40. That wasn't a planned expense and I probably could have done without it.
Other than that, I think I'll be sleeping!0 -
Good morning,
Mooloo, thinking of you and hoping everything works out for the best for all of you.
I'm really struggling to make this challenge fit in with such a diverse range of challengees, so I'm making a start on putting the 2010 challenge together and need to know who is in and who is out - if you are joining me in my cost of living challenge next year, please post usernames in BOLD COLOUR so I can easily spot them and add them to the new list that will soon appear in the OS threads.
FrankieM, I just read your post! Hope whatever problems that brought that about get resolved quickly. 15 is a very awkward age, I think we'll all agree, probably more so because it isn't 16, but I am sure DD must have got a bit of a fright herself when the police were involved.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
Frugal living challenge - living on little in 2025 while frugalling towards retirement.0 -
Thanks for the Hugs,
FrankieM, twins tried this on me, when arguing with their sister about the same age.! It is a nightmare, and we worry about all sorts of things. I am pleased she is home safe, and I hope that the Police talk has an impression. Take care.x
Now I am off to sort out the rest of the day.
DS has just had a phonecall, he starts his apprenticeship on Monday. So it really is all change again!
DGD slept well, but I didnt. So feel somewhat jaded this morning. And sore from the work in the charity shop!.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Good morning NYK,
I THRIFTYLASS solemnly swear that I will definitely take part in next years cost of living challenge. Haven't done that great but I learnt so much in my first year and now definitely know where I'm going wrong and what the culprits are in terms of overspending (just have to do more about it. So count me in :T
Big hugs to Mooloo and FrankieDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Hi Nyk, Please include me, liloandstitch - I did do it this year, and spent loads less, but next year, I intend to do it far better, and actually stick to a budget. I am in the process of starting this at the moment and will post my 2010 budget on the new thread.
Thanks for bearing with us

More (gentle) hugs for Mooloo this morning
FrankieM - my elder DS did a disappearing act on me once, but as he was 16 the police couldn't force him to return home (turned out he was at a friends house, but I didn't know the friend or where they lived - and the police were happy it was a 'safe and secure' location). But having the police knock up the friends family at 2am to make sure he was there certainly shocked him, and he didn't pull that one on me again
Nyk - please count cw18 in for 2010.
Will be 'all in' again, but need to decide whether I'm sticking at £8k or tweaking it up (or down) slightly yet :rolleyes2Cheryl0 -
Morning Nyk MAMA67 will be joining again.
Mooloo, I don't profess to know how these things work but surely SS can't expect you to be the emergency foster carer without recompense.
Sorry if this is out of turn but it makes me so mad that it is assumed family will take on the responsibility reagrdless of the cost.My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
Nyk - Please count me, Deleted_Userinto the challenge for next year - I will try harder - I promise!! x0
