Nyk - Please include XSpender in the list for the 2010 challenge. We will complete our first year on IVA at the start of 2010 which has gone really well, but with a baby due in May I want the security of a nice wodge of savings behind us.

((((Hugs)))) to Mooloo and Frankie. Your daughter's behaviour reminded me of what a cow I was to my own Mother 20 years ago, although I never spent the night outside  I would have been too scared. Need a guilty faced smilie to insert here for my teenage behaviour.:o

BB - Congratulations on seeing your hard work with your OH finally bear fruit. My DH is kind of the other way in that he encourages me to deal with all our financial stuff as I work in finance and will ask before he spends any money. Sometimes I wish he would be more involved to take the pressure off me. I have told him about this challenge and that we will need to sit down and agree budgets for the year as I find it very difficult to say no to him if he wants something (like a weekend away or a night out we can't really afford) as he works hard for his money and I feel like a nagging wife.:o

Looking like I will achieve my 2nd NSD today. :T

    Have a good day all

Sounds so like us :o. One of BF's mottos is "work hard play hard". Like tonight we're going to this really nice place with friends for tea and stay a night. It's on a deal and I'm really looking forward to it, but it was an unplanned spend :o.
finally tea total but in still in (more) debt (Oct 25 CC £1800, loan £6453, mortgage £59,924/158,000)

  • Hi there can I join in please for next year? homegrown_life

been reading for past week but not commented as on oh's iPhone and it's not as easy as on the laptop. Should have proper Internet back tomorrow but been enjoying the feel of the thread, seems nice and friendly.

    Ok hope this posts ok!
    2010 Cost of Living Challenge - £901/£5300 * Grocery challenge - £117.91/£120 *
    Total Debt- [STRIKE]£6388.74[/STRIKE] £5995.66
    Debt Free Reward Pot £11 * Overdraft vs 100 days £363.76/£800 *
    Feb NSD's 8/12
  • I have been adding up some of the totals and having a look and although my year started 'live on 8k' i really was just using paper and guess work. It then went up to 9k and so on lol and the final figure for the year is looking to be about 13,500. This is for a family of 2 adults, 3 children, a dog and 3 hens!

I am not too unhappy about this as i also managed to save and so out of our 16 632 non essential income (not rent, water, childcare or debt payments) we have spent 13 500. 2010 is looking to be a better yr finacially so rather than spending more i want to get it down to 13k and save the rest for any full and finals i may be able to take up.

Will post the full 2010 budget on the new post when up and running :) - i am so glad to have found this challenge as all the past yrs i have lived well beyond my means and run up massive debts and this year has shown me how stupid i was and rather than not being able to afford to live i have MORE than enough to live on AND i can save as well!!!!!
