Hi guys,
Just had more correspondence from the powers that be representing MSE forums and they don't want us on the OS boards because we apparently aren't OS.
So, we aren't all DWF, so can't really be here, we aren't classed as OS, so we can't be there, I quote from the message,
"... MSE Andrea has asked that we move diary threads such as this one, to the How Much Have You Saved Board, which is what I'm intending to do..."
I have no objections to this, but can't quite understand their reasoning and I have no intentions of discussing financial matters such as how much I have saved. My challenge is not simply about making savings, it is about living within my means to avoid debt. So... over to you all to debate, discuss and help determine what sort of challenge this really is.
Edited in - we've already been moved but the link still works the same, so here's the 2010 board. I can't understand what isn't old style about living frugally and following traditional methods of housekeeping. I have no arguments with the board guides as they know best but I am feeling a little bit like just posting it all on my homepage.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
Frugal living challenge - living on little in 2025 while frugalling towards retirement.0 -
well I hope it stays here really as I love reading it and I think it is a diary but just a joint one. If you do move it to a blog site please do post a nice big link.0

What about Old Style Moneysaving nyk? We're all doing this for different reasons so I guess it's pretty hard to know where to 'stick' (lol) us??
Edit: I didn't read that we were on OS board .... my bad
! That's very odd as I'd have thought that things like growing own veg, jam/chutney making, sewing, knitting, crafty things were old style??? How bizarre !

That sounds good or how about learning to live within your means or Living below your income?0 -

I can't understand what the problem is! As long as we only take up space on one board, why does it matter to the powers that be which one it is? To me it fits perfectly with an Old Style ethos

I will happily follow the thread where ever it goes, but I feel really sorry for potential newbies. Stuck on a board which rarely gets visited, very few people will find it and will miss out on invaluable help and support. Such a shame.0 -
Hm, okay so where are we allowed to be? Presumably still on DFW? What other choices are there and then maybe we could decide where we best fit, if not on OS
I don't understand this either... At the end of the day, the most exposure to like-minded people gets my vote...
Sorry for the hassle Nyk, hope you can get it sorted without too much stress xThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

I don't mind where we are as long as the thread exists, but why not Old Style? I don't get it?
Maybe it is best on DFW? I wouldn't leave it at that Nyk, as surely people who use the forums have a say as well as the guides.
DFW argument: making people think about what they spend = less debt, more savings.
OS argument: all the making food from scratch, veg growing, keeping chickens, jam making, lets groups, allotment talk etc = old style living.
HTH, it's just my humble opinion.0
