As a compromise, maybe the thread could be left on the Old Style board (or DFW) from now until the beginning of the new challenge and then moved over to the 'how much have you saved' thread after that
At least it would give people a chance to realise that the challenge exists and have the chance to join in if they want to. It is telling that since the thread was taken off the Old Style board, takers have pretty much dried up despite a high level of interest yesterday
(If that causes you more aggro though Nyk, feel free to ignore:D)0 -

I went all weak at the knees then, thinking you would have to leave your established veggie patch & fowl village as you trudged away into the darkness
And what about SM...then the meds kicked in & I re-read it properly
Someone else had a similar issue...trying to recall ...might have been the It's Tough thread actually & the originator now doesn't post at allWhichever it was, the PTB [Powers That Be] wanted the thread to move into the Arms I think so is that where they want to put us?
I know it's your thread Nyk, in-as-much as you've started the ball rolling, but I agree with SL that surely it is as much for the users to say where they'd like to be, as the mods for taking that decision on your behalf.
Where ever you go, just let me have a forwarding address..I don't want to miss anything :rotfl:

Granted, this isn't an ideal time of year to be thinking of how you can save money to a desirable level.....but when is these daysJust picture yourself in 12mths time, when you can join in the 'success' stories of others & to be honest, that's the bit that keeps me going.

Hi guys, the powers that be have already moved the new thread into a section called 'How much money have you saved' or something similar. It's the very last section before falling into the chat thread. The decision was theirs, we need to abide by what they decide no matter what thoughts we may have on the matter and I can't link to any outside sites that may drive traffic from here.
Incubators - the guy who makes them sells via €Bay, as XNatalieX has just shown.
Hoping the relocation won't cause too much of a problem, just subscribe to the thread so you don't lose it and if you think that it will benefit anyone who may miss it, spread the word and point them in the right direction.I reserve the right not to spend.

I think it is getting to a point now, where Old Style consists of 'Can I freeze milk', 'Cheapest vinegar?' and other such threads. I know I rarely post there anymore because hardly any of the threads nowadays are relevant to my lifestyle. Still, no point moaning, I have the thread bookmarked wherever it is.
OH is taking me out for dinner tonight
Edit: we are all about thrift right (getting most bang for our buck), and what was the OS book called? Thrifty Ways...We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Anyway I was thinking, with everyone looking at their 2010 budgets, what do people think of starting a new challenge to raise money to get us to the Meet next year? Of course we don't know exactly how much we'd need but it could be a good incentive to start saving towards it?
Bails what a great idea, I'd really need to save for a meet up, don't have a car, or caravan, so would need to save for travel costs and somewhere to stay (do have tent and sleeping bag if that would do).
Nyk have never seen 'how much have you saved' board, so I would never have found this amazing challenge if it had been there. For me, it's not about how much has been saved, rather how to live within my means and hopefully pay off some debts, so it seems more relevent to the DFW board, and also lots of OS tips, so would have found it there too, albeit a bit later.

Old Style versus Debt Free Wannabe versus How Much Have You Saved?
As far as I know I've never been on the How Much Have You Saved thread, unless I've drifted there by default (!) so I would never have found this thread had I not already known about it, so I think putting it there is a BIG mistake. Is anybody going to actually keep tabs on how much they're saving? I think I've got enough paperwork to do already, I'll just be happy keeping within budget, and hopefully by keeping in budget I will have saved something, but I don't need to know how much.
As for whether this thread is Old Style or DFW is purely down to each individual depending on what your aspirations are, so for me this thread could go in either, although if I had to state a preference, I would say DFW.
Just putting my two cents worth in, it may count.0
