Wouldn’t that be fantastic!? ... I’d love to know the story behind the window tho, as there surely must be one
If you ever find out please tell :j

Re; ‘round here you’re likely to get the flour and water plus being a Christian it doesent sit comfortably’
It’s such a shame that people spoil so much in life with their negativity & nastiness, we’re lucky here cos everyone has a lovely time and the little ones really enjoy it
People have their own ideas about Halloween & they’re not always founded in the truth,
It’s been celebrated by so many & for different reasons but to me it’s about the changing season, harvest, renewal, Celtic Samhain ... summer's end, a time for thinking about the gifts we have etc
of course the ancient roots of the Celts have long been forgotten by many
It’s also obviously been americanised a lot in recent years, like the pumpkins,
I remember when I was young we always had Candle lanterns carved from turnips (what a job that was ... good job my dad had strong hands l-o-l)
Of course celebrated on 1 November in Western Christianity, as All Saints' Day to commemorate all those who had witnessed beatific vision
There are so many secular customs & manmade attributes now connected with Halloween it’s all got a bit hazy in general, so I suppose the flour and water etc may be attributed to those with no spirituality
Oooooo I’d better shut up now before I go down the road of why so many people appear to be soulless etc etc .. wrists being smacked
When I read ‘we all have out own choices dont we!’
It reminded me of Ma Belarch’s sig ‘Celebratediversity!’ I so agree
.. just wish all the peeps could manage basic decency & respect

‘party last night, loud music, the bass could be felt vibrating our floor, it was so loud. at just after midnight i had to ask them to turn it down a little, as my kids were being kept awake, and got shouted at by them ’

How sad ‘someone on our freecycle network has appealed for anything as their house has been burnt down last few days - I have offered some bedding & camp bed & ladies clothes but I have to say we dont have a great deal to offer but this story really saddened me and Ive not long had a sort out Charity Shop & Ebay (raise xmas funds!) - always the way!’
& even more sad to have to wonder if people on freecycle are always genuine
I hope they get a good response!
Whereabouts in the country are you as I have some things I could give?
Re; ‘Oh sorry I sound soooo glum & really I shouldnt be - there is worse off than me ..... maybe its the weather I hate rain .... & it feels soooooo dark’
I hate the weather here as you know, have you thought about a Sad lamp?

Hi Maytaurus - thanks for your lovely post - & the offer of help to this family - we are in Northants - I am waiting to see how they respond to my email - I must admit I agree with you sometimes I wonder how genuine the pleas are - I dont mind helping anyone & I will always try to do the best I can but I think in todays society you have to be careful & I really hate being like this - its not the way I was brought up - I spoke only the other day with a friend how years ago everyone helped & looked out for one another now we seem to keep ourselves to ourselves

Thats why I like it here so much we are all willing to help and its nice to feel helping is still there ....... how ever little ... its a warm feeling to know you have helped and so many of you on here are so very very generous.

I might think about the lamp - thanks for that xxx much apppreciated xxx

Have just looked at tv viewing this evening and see I have a full list DH wont get a look in ha ha

Take good care of yourself Maytaurus xxx & hugs & thanks for your reply

What are the knitted boobs used for ??
    A work in progress :D
  • Did anyone hear it? Loud expletives coming from a rough area of Cardiff? Well it was me! Yet again unpicking a blanket..this time knitted and still didnt like it....think I need to rethink and maybe do something else for her...her sis is having hat and scarf (also unpicked as didnt like that either!) so will look for some alternaive...
hugs f1...sorry you feel low. Hard to get out of the doldrums isnt it...am drifting there myself...my neighbors funeral is tomorrow and am really torn...dont feel up to it as have knitting group in the eve which takes a certain amount of emotional energy but also want to say goodbye but also dont feel up to more emotional pressure at the moment. Will sleep on it and see how I feel tomorrow...likely to go as want to say goodbye..on that vein am almost having a week off as realised that I've been doing too much and need some me time so have rented series 1 of Fringe and will watch it while vegitating with knitting and puss cat (currently treating houseplant like a rainforest jungle and investigating/eating/killing it!) - when I find yet more patterns lol!!
Did you like the new centre AP? I went last week and had a potter...nice to be able to get to another side of town wholly inside! For those that dont know it rains alot here!! hugs those that need them...

I dont normally answer questions for fear of getting it wrong :o:p:o
    But here goes...
Salome - knitted boobs are used by midwives/childbirth organisations/hospitals/breastfeeding association (I believe in association in some part with Tommee Tippee(?)) to show breastfeeding techniques - eg if baby in Special Care used to show mothers how to express etc (I think this is right)
Also Mastectomy patients have been known to use them as they are soft
(Phew I do hope I have this right - feel free to put right my wrongs ladies!)

On the funny side I understand there are a number of our husbands who find them midly saucy ........ or have been used as stress toys - just say no more about the above :o:p:rotfl::o:p:rotfl:

isom Im sure i can boot myself up bottom ..... but thanks anyway for all concerns

ooh no couldnt live where you live if there is too much rain - rain really annoys me, makes me down and most of all as Peter Kay would say 'soaks you right through'

Hugs & thoughts for tommorow - it must be hard to want to go and say goodbye but dont have the strength - I would think to myself try & go - you may regret it if you dont - BUT if you dont go you can think of her in your own way from your own space in your own time.....

A shame you’re a bit too far away for me to be of any help for the Freecycle add

I agree, although it’s not like that in other parts of the world and it seems to always be the case that the people who have the least always give & share the most!
    Hope you’re feeling better today

Good morning everyone - from a very damp corner of France. It's been raining since yesterday morning; I think we're all sharing the same weather again!

Salome - that was a lovely thing to do!

F1 - the perfect description for what the boobs are used for!

Donny-Gal - the tapestry is gorgeous; please post a piccie when it's finished!

May - I love horse-riding and your mentions of it reminded me that I still haven't sussed out the local stables yet. I really must do that!

Pol - (((Hugs))) to you; so sorry about your friend. Lots of (((hugs))) to your Mum, too.

Chalky - it's a long-standing topic of conversation in my family about how gullible I used to be! I don't think I am these days, but my reputation still stands! Hope you're having fun with DD.

Well, yesterday afternoon was spent in the hospital with various members of staff having their say about DH's finger. It has been re-dressed and seems to be on the mend, hopefully, but he needs to see the nurse every other day for the rest of the week. I think he overdid the DIY last week, TBH, and that's why it's taking so long to heal. This week I've told him he can do a little light painting and that's all! He's always doing something so, when we came back home yesterday and sat and watched the TV for the rest of the afternoon, it made a refreshing change, and I could crochet in peace without having to keep getting up to help him! I hope the rest of the week is the same.

Thanks for all your updates. I only have poppies to add, but I am working on a pair of Mary-Jane type booties that seem fairly easy so, if they turn out well, I shall add them and make some more.

With Jean's fantastic work on her update spreadsheets, I should be able to post them on here as well as on my blog - which I will do a bit later on this morning.

Hope you all have a great day.

    Morning all,
Kathy, sounds like your DH finger will only heal if he stops doing so much! Hope it heals proper soon!
Well I have finally packaged up two small parcels, one for Bonnie Babies and one for Loving Hands. I stuck an SAE in both but am I right in thinking that one of the LH ladies comes on here ? (I have put in a note saying I am OrkneyStar on this thread if she wants to let me know here that parcel has come....sorry I am not sure who you are lol!). Anyway only about 6-7 things in each but still it is something. Just a shame its such grot weather out there today but I WILL go out and post them lol!
I will hold on to the boob until I get a few more.
Hugs to the rest of you, better go get DS up now.

(no should not have negative thoughts ..)

orkneystar - boobs can go to shezmit (preemiesUK) or LH - shezmit has been posting her totals on here of what she would like to receive by xmas (a little challenge she has set)

Actually come to think of it .....Shezmit are you OK - havent seen you for a week - hope you are OK & not too busy ..xx
