Just back from taking DS to park and there was a car boot in the hall next to the park! We are back with a Thomas pop up tent (£2), a 'Muck' from Bob the Builder (50p) , a small 'Lofty' (also BTB- 20p), and a double decker bus (10p), some stickle bricks (£1), and some homemade yummy cake thing (£1.20).....there was some wool there and needles but RESISTED! Also a lady selling some lovely knitted/crocheted scarves too, but I would rather make my own lol! I WILL I WILL I WILL KNIT SOME CHARITY STUFF LATER AND SEND IT OFF (SOME TO LH I THINK AND SOME TO BONNIE BABIES).

Hi Ma Belach :-)
I got well and truely soaked this morning going to church :-( I take a disabled lady, her family were unable to give her a lift there, and I couldn't let her go on her own. (she has an electric chair) so battled through the wind and rain lol.
Off to Cardiff soon to pick my son up. He's coming to stay for a couple of days :-)
One of the expectant mums at church asked if I could make her a cot blanket, so will make a start on that as soon as I can :-) I will crochet that.
Not getting much charity knitting done, will have to try and fit some in somehow lol :-)
I took my daughters blankets out to the old peoples home, when I went to see my dad yesterday. She'd wrapped them up really nice and had put a bow on each of them. The nurse asked if they could save them till Christmas, because some of the old people don't get any presents, so they could give them one of the blankets :-) Thought that was sweet. She'd made a mans one and a ladies one :-)

Salome -- That is really lovey. What a nice thing to do
Just popped on to check on you as we are out for a Chinese buffet this evening with DD
I don't like to write too much concerning the weather here as I know how blustery it is at home at the mo. But DD of course made her Dear Mum swim in the sea this afternoon and although I squealed a lot for effect it was gorgeous.
Hope evrybody clicks and hooks happily thid evening and I will catch up tomorrowTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Hi everyone, hope you are all ok this afternoon. It's pouring down here, so been busy sewing up (which I hate) blankets and santas. I will definitely get to grips with posting pics on here soon, had a look at May's links and it does sound easier than I thought.
Welcome to all the new friends that have joined us in the last couple of weeks, you will all be as addicted as the rest of us in no time!
Been feeling a bit down this week, my friend died and my mum has not been too well. It sometimes seems one thing after another doesn't it? This thread is so lovely in times like this, because I know that there are people out there who care. I'm not as good as Chalky at saying things, but I'm so happy to belong to this " knot of knitters" as Prfungi says. Thanks everyone.

Thanks for the welcome ladies, I think the sun may have addled my brain (yes chalky, out here atm, and it has been a glorious October, we set off back early on Wednesday driving through France, and waving to M as we pass, so I am back to add a bit more info.
I have put a piccy of my tapestry on photobucket, here so you can see what I mean there are a lot of vertical and horizontal lines with it being water and buildings, and the windows too how to get the framing right with where the paint has hit the holes IYKWIM. It is really frustrating me as I want to get this finished and because I am not happy about it keep looking at it and not picking it up. If I decide to do one colour, then I cannot see what I may have to do otherwise, has anyone done any outlining on a tapestry, not sure that it would look right?
On the knitting front, my DH saw a Fisherman's type of jumper which caught his eye and I thought I may have a go at one, but the wool where we saw it was horrendously expensive (and being Yorkshire I am tight!) but struggling to work out what yarn is what on the site.
Thanks - DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Hello everyone, and :hello:to the new knitters.
My update for this week:
3 cardis
2 hats
My mum has knitted:
2 pairs boottees
Visited new St David's Centre in Cardiff today, wow I walked my feet off. Not surprising that the council has laid on a free shuttle bus to get around the city centre. Off to finish cooking the dinner now.0 -
Pol -- I am really sorry you are having such a rough time. I don't know about being good with words. I know one thing I might be but I am so NOT with numbers and give me a map and I can get lost before I have turned it the right way up. Also while I am at it I am also gullible --- remember the RIP and me being led up the proverbial Garden Path by my older brothers and thought it meant Rise If Possible. Actually I could go on and on
with words.
Anyway I think there is often someone near here -- this virtual space who is feeling sad or alone and I am so glad to be a part of this thread where people care. So gentle hugs to anyone who is feeling a bit under the weather this eveningTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
pol hugs to you, hope your mum is feeling better. I know what it's like to lose a friend, you have my sympathy.0
