I am so inspired by these knitted things on here. Some lovely blankets. I was looking on some knitting for charity sites last nite, and am really keen to get some things knitted up. My mum is doing "veggie pot warmers" for age concern. The same principal as the knitted hats for the smoothie drinks. These are knitted bands that go around a pot of veggies, or something, and will be sold at Sainsburys. They look cute :-) I'm going over in my mind if I can hunt out some knitters at church, and maybe have a get together and start a charity knit thing ???? Not sure how many can knit as there are a lot of younger people there. I can always give lessons :-) Please keep posting the pics they're great, and loved that poster of the cat on it's back brilliant :-)
Happy knitting day to you all x
    A work in progress :D

As others have said please feel free to pm/phone or whatever..just think of all the knitting projects you would miss out on...just wouldnt do now would it. Have crisis team been in and what support have you about you?
PTB...thinking of you today. While reaching a grand old age is good it doesnt make you miss them any less does it eh...love the sound of ds and how lovely to be asked to do knitting for someone!
lol re the builders bum! While out with skinny beanpole friend noticed yesterday that even they have them!! hope building prjects ok...despite bleeding rads and repressurising lodgers one is still only half on so have rung the plumber and will have a service (boiler not me lol) at the same time...havent had it done since I moved in in 1999!! oops...
Off to find wool for teapot (a christmas pressie) and then back for chilling. Feeling slightly (actually very) worse for wear after checking that the hm wine and limoncello were ok so a gentle day for me...!!
ps I have a gorgeous photo of bundle of fluff helping with kntting while I'll post when battery no longer flat!

'Mornin All Thanks for all the nice comments on the blanket. It was a chore for me to do, but only because it had a real finish deadline (made it a must do, not a want to do IYKWIM):o.

Chalky you asked for the pattern - here goes,
    IMG_0331-1.jpg
My Easy Peasy Sideways Shell Blanket( a big version of Donna Laing’s Sideways Shell Baby Afghan)

The pattern can be adjusted to any size, made in any yarn with any size hook. It is a multiple of 3 sts, + 2 sts.)

I used a lightweight DK (self striping) with a 4.5mm hook so that the blanket wasn’t too dense. I wanted a square, roughly 1 metre so here’s what I did:

    Chain 155 loosely.

Row 1: In the 5th chain from hook, work 1 dc, ch 2, and 2 tr, *skip 2 ch, work 1 dc, ch 2, and 2 tr all in the next ch. Repeat from * across to last 3 ch, skip 2 ch, work 1 tr in the last ch.

Row 2: Chain 3, turn. Work 1 dc, ch2, and 2 tr clustered all in the first ch-2 loop. Repeat in all loops across to last loop. Work 1 tr in ch-3 space at the end of row.

Repeat Row 2 until it’s as long as you need. *Don’t break off yarn, continue around the corner and the remaining 3 sides of the blanket, working - 1 dc,ch 2,2 tr - clusters in each space. Slip st at the end. Break off and weave in ends.
*Alternatively, you can change colour here to work a contrasting border.

I love this stitch - I’m doing various swatches using different yarns and hook sizes, imagining all sorts of throws, lapghans and shawls.. So far I’ve taken DK yarn up to a 6.5mm hook and it’s a lovely effect – not for tinies but great for older kids and adults. Going to play with chunky next but will have to source some larger hooks, 7.0mm is my biggest and I think I could go to 9 or even 10mm with chunky.

Shazrobo - hope you're feeling a bit better today :heartsmil

    ISOM - happy hangover - :beer:_party_
Maytaurus - another fabulous kitty pic - ta!

    Huge ((Hugs)) to everyone!

Time for coffee, so 'bye for now.

Jut a quick post - trying to link a photo from the Wooligans site!

    DSC_0045.jpg

Hmm - that was easy, I can see it now - but lets see what happens when I submit the post.

ok I can see it but its a wee bit small.

    .DSC_0045.jpg

ha! ok now its a good size. let me submit it again

    yippee - that's it!

    Right folks - to get the bigger piccy from your Wooligans photo album, first double click on your pic, this takes you into edit mode where you see the big pic, Right click on the photo and select the "copy image location" option. In your message box here on the forum select the insert picture option from the toolbar insertimage.gif this one;

Right click on the pop up box and select "paste".

Hope this helps (also hope it makes sense).

Off to see Mum now, back later!

    luv
    Pam
