isom, good news, that your mum is feeling better
don, wool sounds lovely that you bought, and if u find your camera cable can you tell me if mine is there too please lol
had a knock on the door this afternoon, a man with a very large box, i havent bought anything online recently, so didnt have a clue what it was
imagine my suprise, and sheer delight when i opened it and found it was full of lovely wool from Lou. i shall be kept busy a lot of it is 4ply, so some preemie cardigans planned, and some is double knit, so oxfam jumpers and other things planned for that, and some eyelash yarn, that will probably end up as a scarf

Found it! This is Lala - one of our ex batt hens - the jumper can't be very easily seen am afraid because I knitted it in a beige colour wool so it blended in really easily with her feathers. Her skin is much better now since wearing it and starting to recover so we have removed the jumper now also due to the weather being so hot! but it did the job and helped her recover a bit better than she would have done without it.

    Hi everyone.

Kinsey - a new baby on the way; how exciting! Lots of excuses to knit, then! My DS2 and his family Skyped last night and we could barely hear ourselves speak because Summer, who is now nine months old, kept joining in the conversation! She's going to be a real chatterbox, I think!

Chalky - I can't believe it's been a year since your DS and his lovely bride were married; where on earth has the time gone? I hope he is feeling more settled with work now. Hope you have a lovely time at Carzola.

Don - Lala looks beautiful and what a lovely name!

Sock-knitter - enjoy all that wool!

Well, yesterday was yet another lovely day full of sunshine. We did a bit of work on the house, chilled a little in the afternoon then, just after dinner, discovered one of the neighbouring farmer's cows had looked at our field and thought the grass was greener there! I would happily have left her there rather than disturb the farmer on a bank holiday, but the boundary is not secure so we had to tell him. He came round to rescue her but she gave him the run-around and I swear she kept trying to hide behind a tree! In the end, the call of her friends persuaded her back to the herd. They are gorgeous cows. Then we were invited to celebrate our other neighbour's birthday - he had some friends round who had been drinking beer for most of the afternoon and we had a great laugh trying to teach them a bit of English! All in all a lovely day.

Today, I am woodworm treating the beams in the kitchen and DH will be plasterboarding in between them - what a fun-packed day that will be! Luckily, this part of the room is not vaulted so I shouldn't have to help with the plasterboarding and won't have to climb any more ladders! Once that's done, we are re-organising all the kitchen units which I am dreading because it means emptying all the cupboards, but it will be a good excuse to sort them out because they've been very temporary since we moved in! After that, we will be another week or so plastering, painting and tiling - once we've found the tiles! I can't wait to get it finished because I am fed up with a kitchen that looks like a building site!

I managed a little hooking yesterday and just did a few more rows to the throw for my chair. I was losing heart because I know I will run out of wool that I can't replace until we come back to the UK. I've lost the ball band so I can't get anyone back home to send me some, but I've introduced another colour from my stash which goes well with the other colours, so I now have enough. Of course, that new colour is not in any of the squares in the cushion I'm making so I will have to use it to edge the cushion, otherwise it will irritate me! Anyway, I'm enjoying the project - I just have to get some spray paint to revamp the chair I'm making them for. It's a very old Lloyd Loom chair that I've had for years and years but it's a lovely shape and I've been meaning to do something with it for ages.

Anyway, today I am going to choose another square from my lovely new crochet blocks book to add to my Chalky squares - just don't know which one to do!

Well, I will definitely try and get the update done today.

I hope you all have a lovely day and that all those who are MIA are well and happy.

Morning all, early for me today kept waking so decided to give in and get up!!!

Popped over to see Jan and her OH last night, he is doing really well still resting a lot as he's been told to do, but looking remarkably well for what he had done.

MIL is still in hospital, she has to have a camera down her throat today _pale_ she is not really much better, wants to go home but they wont let her out until they find out why her lung is still full of fluid, she is still not eating either.

I did a huge post yesterday but it disappeared into the black hole because maintenance was going on in here....dopey me never noticed

Kinsey - lovely news about the LO, I think there is a special bond between grandchildren and grandparents from the first smile we are hooked :) and when you visit and they come running towards you with their little arms open...well me.. I just melted. We are'nt close in terms of distance to ours either, DGS is about an hour away and DGD's are 3 hours away.
chalky - had a look at your blog the other day I love all the blue's. Have a great time out and about with your visitors.
kathy - glad hear you are chilling a bit you need it with all you've been doing
May - nice to see you and a wonderful post as always
Sockknitter - same thing happened to me a few weeks ago, a huge box of wool mainly chunky and aran in mine though, so I have done a few sailors hats and a chunky jumper for a child still got 8 balls left, the 4ply I doubled up, did a load of squares and made a blanket. I figured I'd knit all Lou's wool up put a few of my other things in and send it all back in the same box.
DON - the chooks look lovely very chic in their new coats
ISOM - glad to hear your Mum is feeling better now.Good luck with the laptop later.
MrsTwins - love the latest blankets the colours are amazing. Enough squares there to keep you going for weeks
f1 - thanks that would be nice of you, new hat patterns are always welcome :) Glad you got the school run sorted

I managed to get the chunky jumper finished and am now doing a baby jumper and then a cardi for my DIL's neice, baby's not due until August so I have lots of time. I bought a 250 gr ball of baby blue from ALDI a while ago and thought I'd make a start on them. I do like knitting things for littlies:)

Well its time for a cuppa then a shower,
    TTFN

    Hi
Is it my imagination, or has the forum appearance changed since I was last on ??
Have had a bit of laptop trouble the last couple of days, but thanks to a wonderful son in law who knows about these things, she's behaving well again :-)
Have had my Cardiff lad up with us again for a couple of days. Taking him home tonight.
Lacy Bolero almost done now. Just knitting the border. Will start on something for the new church baby to be soon, no hurry as the little one isn't due until January, but really want to get some charity stuff done.
I went to watch a childrens choir on Sunday called Destiny Africa Childrens Choir. They are all orphaned children, and some shared their life before they got taken in by the orphan, and it really moved me to think what they have had to endure, and yet they have so much love ooozing out of them. Couldn't help thinking of children in the western world who grumble at the smallest thing and throw tantrums when they can't get their own way. If only they were aware of the suffering some children have to go through :-( Anyway, after seeing them and watching their testimonies etc. I'm definitely going to see if I can get some knittng club up and running at church in the Autumn, and see if we can get some things up together to send out to these places :-) The lovely thing about this home where these children are, is that it wants to reach out to the community around them as well, which is a poor comunity. The home is run by Christians, and it's now developing it's own village as such, with seven houses where the children are housed with a houseperson. Can't remember how many to a house, but they have varying ages each house so each child grows up in a 'family'. They now have a school there, they are going to have a hospital on the site and a dentist, these are projects in waiting so to speak, but these amenities are not to be for the children only, but to serve the whole of the community outside of the 'village'. So lovely. So the children who live outside the 'village' come to school with the children in the 'village' and have the same chance of a good education as the orphaned children do :-)
I've been doing a course which, when I'm through it I will be able to help ladies/girls who find themselves in a pregnancy crisis. I'm going to go on and do the next course as well, then I shall be able to counsel ladies who have miscarried. I'm hoping to be able to though, counsel anyone who has suffered a baby loss (child loss) of any kind, post and pre natal. I feel very moved to do this.
For this course there's quite a bit of reading, and the book I'm reading covers abortion, baby deaths etc, and I thought of you lot the last couple of days while I was reading about baby deaths, and the lovely things you knit for the various charities that provide for parents who have lost a baby, and after reading what I've been reading, your lovely works will be greatly appreciated and welcome :-)
Have a blessed and proserous day. Hugs to all who need them. ((((hugs)))) Love you all.

    Morning all,

Salome you are so lovely, your always thinking of other people. I would have been in floods of tears listening to those children. Good luck with the courses.

Maytaurus so lovely to see your post and yes dinosaurs are still everywhere, I'm sure I live in jurassic park!! Thanks for the patterns I'm sure I printed them off last time but I will double check. Hope you start to feel brighter, I can't imagine what its like for you, I wish I could wave a magic wand and make it better.

Kathy I'm so glad there will be no more ladders on tables, I did worry about you doing that. good luck with treating the woodworm sounds like such fun!

Pippa nice to hear Jan's OH is doing well. I hope all goes well for DMIL today.

Well must get on, library books need going back today, weather has really clouded over here today, feel a bit of a headache coming on too. Oh well fresh air should do me good.

    ((Hugs)) to you all.x
