    Hi friends,
Thank you all so much for the lovely comments on my blog featuring the 'Sunshine squares' donated by maytaurus! I'm pleased you liked the blanket maytaurus and thank you all for the offer of squares. Most Welcome! I'm so pleased you checked it out and will visit me again!

I'm just wondering whether anyone on this forum would like a Knitting pattern. I don't knit you see only crochet. Free in a magazine last week was a lovely little booklet with patterns for the 'Woolly World Cup!'. Now as I don't have boys only twin girls (24) I have no need for the pattern, and neither do I knit.
The pattern features little Footballers which are knitted but attached to gloves. By moving your fingers when wearing the gloves the little Footballers move! They are just so cute. There is even a pattern for a football goalposts/net and a little football too.
It's a really nice colourful booklet, and it would really be such a shame to just stick it away in my drawer.
If anyone would like the booklet, I'd only be too pleased to send it to you.
All you have to do is to contact me. I can't write my email address or blog link on this thread still.
So can you either reply directly on this thread or look up in my profile?
YOu are most welcome to the booklet, so its really the first person who contacts me who I will send it to.
Have a lovely evening everyone and once again many thanks for your help with my 'Sunshine Squares' for my Blankets for the Elderly in Nursing homes etc.,

    hi,

i've just discovered this thread and being an avid knitwit and crochet fan i'm in my element looking at the patterns and the lovely items that have been produced.

however, i wanted to tell you about my experience that left me a bit shocked. i like to go to music festivals and do my bit for oxfam. i discovered that there are many stalls there that sell old blankets, sleeping bags and clothes for those that have forgotten or got washed/muddied out. also, there are stalls that sell beautifully knitted and crochet blankets just as you have been lovingly making, there are piles of them. they sell for the grand price of £5 (albeit for charity)!!! they then get dragged through the mud and probably left behind.

so please, i know how long these blankets take to make, i would be heartbroken if one that i had made was sold for such a pittance.

make sure you know where it is going.
you can't take it with you...

I know exactly what you mean. I am making 'Sunshine Blankets' for the Elderly and I am personally delivering my Blankets into Nursing homes. So I know where they are going. I have on line friends that are donating squares to me from all over the world. I too, want to know where they will be going. Please visit my profile for my blog address.

Hi Sal and welcome to you.

We know where all our items go, so please don't worry! We send lots of things here http://www.lovinghands.org.uk/ and here http://sites.google.com/site/preemiesuk/ and we also send to projects that are created generously by members on here. For instance, Chalky is currently collecting 8" squares which she lovingly sews together into blankets for particular charities. Some months ago, she asked if we we would donate items to an orphanage in Spain to help a little baby there, and we were all more than happy to do this. Chalky personally delivered the items to the orphanage/.

Mrs Moneypenny collects fundraising items for her local choirboys' charity, too.

We would love it if you joined us here; you will receive a warm welcome from us all and can rest assured that anything you knit or crochet will find a deserving home. Please do join us!

    KathyXX

Mrs Twins whom you have already 'met' in the previous post, has a wonderful blog showing her current project, collecting 6" squares which she sews together into blankets for the elderly. She has recently joined us here and we consider her a lucky find!

Loving Hands (see link above) distribute items all round the world. It is run tirelessly by a lovely lady called Lou and we know that every single item goes to someone who really needs it.

    morning all

hope everyone has a lovely day (weather is miserable so i vote we all stay in and craft ) F1 hes the youngest of my five they are 23, 21, 17, 15 and 9. top 3 are girls younger 2 are boys. Eldest 2 have flown the coop now so only 3 at home. We are going lazer quest on friday to celebrate (he doesnt know yet;)) luckily with it being 'good friday DH has the day off work so it should be a nice day. It made me laugh when we asked him what he wanted for his birthday he asked for another ball of wool for his french knittng:rotfl:we arent sure what hes doing with it yet but hes managed to 'knit' a cord about 25ft long, when he trails it round the house the cat sees it twitching and goes mad after it;).

finished the body of my orange/green handbag last night so just have the handles to do on that. Rabbit needs one arm finishing and her dress making. need to weigh the remaining bits i have for LH to work out what else i can do before sedning the final parcel of the current challenge off. The bag and the rabbit are for the choirboys spring fayre, i think ill have to concentrate on that once ive got Lous parcel up to 1kg to fill the stall by then the next LH challenge will be announced.
mrstwins i posted 2 squares off to you yesterday so hopefully they will be with you soon.

    have a lovely day all

Morning all, hmmmmm well so much for British Summer Time starting. Wet, cold and downright miserable here and more flippin` snow forecast !!
DD1 and the kids are supposed to be going down to Glasgow on Thursday to spend a few days with her DH as he`s working down there at the moment, but if there`s snow I think that might be cancelled.

Of course that will be the time Bump decides to put in his/her appearance, when there`s snow about and roads are bad. :( DD has been having more backache / twinges the past few days - standing in ASDA doing her pelvic rocking/tilts in the middle of the aisle :rotfl:.

Not much happening here today, grandchildren here till lunchtime at least, maybe longer so can`t get much housew*** done - shame. Managed to get a bit more of the baby jacket I`m doing done last night so just have the collar to finish and then sew it all together. Not specifically charity knitting, but as I`ve been doing pink things and blue things, whichever colour is not required here will be going `away`, if you see what I mean. Did manage to get another Chalky square done though as well.

Think I`ll go and bring in some logs from the shed in preparation for an afternoon & evening by the fire, and put the kettle on while I`m passing. Must be time for a cuppa.

Have a good day everyone, love to all and ((hugs)) to those who need. If you are lurking Pam, hope you are OK ?

    Back later maybe.

Elaine Asda must have some kind of effect on bumps, i remember DH had taken the due date of our 4th off work in case anything happened. we were in Asda doing the big christmas shop. (it was 21st Dec) quite why i was so blaze about everything i had decided to leave the shopping till that close to christmas in my huge waddling state im not sure but there we were with the trolley piled high loading it through the checkout when the checkout girl asked when i was due. Oh later today once the shopping is put away i casually replied. Well ive never seen shopping get thrown through the scanner so fast after i said that:rotfl:. I think she was scared that ill let go in her lane. We got home with the shopping and the TV had broke and needed collecting from the repair shop so we had one to watch over christmas. Dh left the bags of shopping in the hall for me to put away then went to pick up the TV. i was just lugging the last bag into the kitchen when my waters went:o. no contractions so i got changed and carried on putting the shopping away. DH got back and i told him he said was i still ok to do tea before ringing the hospital (id done it 3 times before so we knew the drill;)) anyway tea came and went still no contractions so i rang for advice. went in no not in labour but cant go home might start me christams eve if noithng happened, waddled down to materity ward from labour ward just saying bye to DH and felt stirings, by the time id walked back to labour ward i was 9 cm dialated and No4 was born at half past 11 on his due day. I was home on christmas eve to to christmas for the others but the girls were fretting santa wouldnt bring the baby any pessies has he wouldnt be on the list.
My best one was No3 DD she was a 55min labour from start to finish - she got to the hospital 11 mins after me, and has never given me one seconds trouble since:A.

i hope your DD has a lovely easy painfree labour
