    Hi all,

In the interests of moneysaving ;) I just thought I`d let you know that Lidl are advertising wool / yarn whatever you prefer to call it coming on sale on the 22nd - not that any of you will be interested I suppose :D

Another faffing about day here with no knitting being done - so far anyway - and not much forecast for tomorrow either as will have 2 of the grandchildren here. DD has sprained her ankle (told her not to wear high heels !) so is off work for a couple of days and has said we will take the kids out for the day in the car. Hmm, place she mentioned has wool as well as plants, fancy goods etc. Might not be a bad idea then, although a trip there usually means parting with some cash.

Pam, that `exercise regime` sounds good to me. Take about 2 minutes then on a good day, but all day on a bad one though.

Good luck with the sale Shelley.

k2tog - I could do with knitting needles like that - I hate knitting with dark wool in lamplight, gives me a headache even when I wear my glasses.

Off to have a half hour with the needles then another half hour with the book in bed.
    Night night all.

Oooh Elaine thankyou for the Lidl tip! The last Aldi one was great - loads of baby coloured wool! They do make needles with lights in the tips but I can't remember where I've seen them or what sort of price they are.
Good luck with the sale tomorrow Shelley.
Helyg, I did a couple of men's hats for loving hands in bigga - it was great to knit with as it grew so fast!

    Good luck for tomorrow Shezmit.
  • Hello everyone :) I just thought I'd update you all - I posted off 116 smoothie hats today. It's not quite up to last year's total but I still think it's a good effort! I did take a few rather rubbish pictures (why are camera batteries always flat when you want to take a picture?) but if they're reasonable when I put them on the computer then I'll stick one on the Wooligans site.

Rather embarrassingly, I might have knitted another hat tonight lol - well, I suppose it can go towards next year's total! Anyway, good luck with all of your projects!
  • Evening all,

    Just a quick flyby...

Mini Pudsey (as already mentioned), in this month's Simply Knitting is soooo cute!! My magazine popped through the letterbox on Saturday and DS immediately wanted one. Rummage through mountains of stash and did I have any yellow wool?? Nope- so, visit to Texere at lunchtime today, and we now have one mini Pudsey all completed.

Dead easy to do, but fiddly to sew up; started cast on for body at 7pm, and was all sewn and stuffed (as well as dinner eaten) by 10pm.:T

Will post a picture as soon as I can find camera lead (which DD has helpfully tidied away and I am guessing is now at the bottom of a very big box of noisy toys...dontcha just love 1 year olds??!!)

Spotted the pattern changing hands on ebay for silly amounts of money last night - one went for £7.50plus p&p (and the mag is £4.99 to buy??) Hmm....

Well done, Gingernutmeg, I am very impressed!

Just finished my second boob, so now have a pair. Might need to sew these up so that my nipple-wool colleague can see what they're like!

Any angel pocket people with hints for me about sewing up, at all???

Hi everyone. Hope all is well.

I'm not getting on here as often as I would like lately - yesterday was spent either ironing (but I did get it all done in the end, including the stuff that came straight from the washing line!), and 'helping' with the plastering. Tomorrow - and I am truly dreading this - we are taking down the ceiling in the room next to the kitchen, then knocking down the top half of the wall between the two. The room is currently a little temporary sitting room that I've grown really fond of over the last few months. We have an old sofa in it (our proper suite is still in storage in the barn), as well as the TV and my PC and desk, and it looks out over fields and trees. The two rooms will become a big kitchen/dining room with a vaulted ceiling in the dining room part(which I know will be lovely - in the end). I'm currently negotiating to keep the PC in there (because it's handy for the kettle, and I can keep an eye on the cooking while I'm on here!). We did build a new room inside a much bigger room as an office/craft room for me but it's at the front of the house. We have to move everything in there this afternoon, ready for taking down the ceiling and knocking down the wall (oh, please don't put me through the nightmare of it all!), so I shall see if I like it in there first before committing to keeping it that way. I've been told it will take 'just' two days to do including clearing up the debris so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The thing is, because it's all part of the kitchen, I have to set up temporary arrangements for organising meals and so on, so I know it's going to be a difficult couple of days - I may be coming on here for a moan every now and again!

Anyway, did a little more on DGS's ripple blanket but I was watching the new David Attenborough programme so I had to keep putting it down. The ripple blanket is really easy but you do have to concentrate on the stitch count.

Shez - hope the knick-knack sale goes well.

Gingernutmeg - what a fantastic total. I remember last year your IS hat count was phenomenal, wasn't it? Good to hear from you again, too!

Elaine - I can't knit with dark wool in electric light these days. I've only recently started needing glasses for close work, but it still makes my eyes sore. Most of my knitting or crochet is in light coloured wool. I also save all the sewing up to do in daylight, too. The trials of getting old, I suppose!

PurpleTeddyBear - well done on completing Pudsey bear in three hours! I'll see if my Mum has bought the magazine this month, and ask her to photocopy the pattern for me. I won't be able to get it over here.

Well, as you can see, I'm up early again - I keep waking up with the sniffles which I think is caused by the dust while the renovation work is going on because I don't feel unwell. I do like surfing on here in the early hours, though, so I don't mind - although I'll need a nap before my sitting room is taken away from me later on today!
